Maxey is a very good player. A future star. Today wasn’t his day but we won in a VERY tough arena vs a good team. I’m happy with this team.

He’s gotta stop trying so hard to be the hero. Cause too many turnovers but yeah just a bad game. Is definitely talented.

He's killing UK.
Maxey has had some bad games. The worst thing today was not blocking out the free throw shooter. But Maxey is good but he just has too realize time and score. But let me say this, he will be fine!

He went AAU on us tonight...down the stretch his poor decision making was key to getting Tech back in the game.

Cal said as much in the Postgame. He said he reverted back to High School actually. Cal was tough on him but said it was a learning opportunity for him.

Maxey is the type of kid that playing great or playing bad doesn't effect his confidence and that is a double-edged sword. However, he has played great in some big games this year and I am confident he will again and that's all that matters!

It's great when one of our best players has a bad game and we win on the road in a hostile environment against a ranked team!!!

Yes we need the good Maxey to win in March. Still plenty of time for Cal to wring the AAU out of him.

He's a very talented player but his hero ball at the end of close games needs to stop. I mean he throws up some out of control, Archie Goodwin type shot every time it's a close game at the end, it seems.

Damn guys. He didn’t play well v TT but he’s a big part of what this team can be going forward. Virtually all freshmen hit a wall and it’s usually this time of year. Add in the fact that he played near home against his friend and I’m not a bit surprised he played badly. He will be fine moving forward.

No other board is allowed to crap on their own players than this board.

Have you not watched the last ten years of Coach Cal at Kentucky? It's a process, kids come to Kentucky playing their game, which is no defense, wanting all the shots, making poor decisions. In the course of the year, those habits are broken, players that can make 3's, take 3's, they rebound with two hands, they to the boards, they play solid defense and quit taking chances. Every game is a learning experience and they practice against the best everyday and they are everybody's Super Bowl all year long. Then March hits and those mistakes have been eliminated, winning is more important than scoring 30 and teams get us (and our fans) at peak level. Maxey still played great defense yesterday and logged a lot of minutes. We can beat teams on the road with two of our guys playing subpar. Another 30 days and when this team clicks on all cylinders, it will be fun to watch. Cal works on having an upward trajectory and we always do. Look at Ohio State, Evansville, Utah....yea, they beat us, but look at them now. We learned from those games and would bury all three of them right now. Keep our eye on the prize and appreciate the growth. Just think how much better Nick, Ashton and IQ are now from day 1.

I can handle freshmen growing pains and mental mistakes but I could go a lifetime without seeing another scissor kick three.

He can win it for you or get you beat
3 late possessions- Bad three - charge - air ball
Fortunately for us TT missed two threes and a lane jumper
I do not think he is a elite talent but a streaky player with a green light

Maxey is an extraordinary athlete who DOES play out of control sometimes, but he's got a scorer's mentality. He's a freshman who is learning the process. I do think by tournament time you'll see some improvement, he just needs to get his teammates more involved.

OP I mean really??? Maxey is really good. He played good defense, rebounded etc even though he wasn’t scoring. He will be an important factor to how far this team can go.

Maxey is good and has played well for a freshmen. Not sure if he would be on mock draft boards however if he were playing anywhere else, Duke perhaps, but he really hasn’t performed in a way that warrants getting drafted in the first round to this point, let alone a lottery pick.
