I am throwing down the gauntlet!

Would you accept the awesome challenge of winning at Mackey Arena, the wildest, loudest in college hoops?

Boiler up!

Here we go boilers, here we go!

I'd be up for it. I'm tired of all the neutral site games, a new challenging home and home series would be fine by me.

But I don't think we'll get Cal to agree to it.

The series record is 6 wins for Kentucky and 2 for Purdue, it would be that bad or worse for Purdue if we started a series now.

What do you want me to say? I truly don’t care. Purdue, North Tennessee State, Maryland Polytechnic. They are equally meaningful to me. We play who we play. Purdue doesn’t even register.

I work with lots of Purdue grads.

I would be happy with it.
I had a boss about 35 years ago that was a Purdue grad. Biggest D**khead I've ever known in my professional career. Thought he was so superior to anyone else and hated anyone who graduated from the UK College of Engineering needless to say the Basketball Team. Would love to beat them and send him a sympathy card if he's still alive.

Being from the old school, I've always thought playing good competition is good for you when it comes Tournament time. I don't think a team learns a lot when they play a "Cup cake" schedule. Playing your team mates in practice is better then some of the teams we play early in the season. I know a lot of coaches play these weak teams, because they have a coach who Cal likes, and UK will pay them more for one game, then they will probably make the whole season. They come in, get their A$$ kicked, get their money, and go home.

Purdue doesn’t get my juices flowing? I’d take ND or Butler over them if we stay in Ind.

One of my best friends is a Purdue fan. He and I equally hate IU with a passion.
I would enjoy a home and home with the Boilers. And if we’re gonna lose a November or December game or two or three, I’d rather lose to Purdue than Evansville.
Besides, if we ever played Purdue, think of all the great pictures of Gene Keady that would surface on this board.
The Scowl and The Comb-Over!
That alone would be epic entertainment.

My dad took me to the 1984 game in Lafayette when I was 9. I fell asleep and UK lost. I don't want to go back. F off.

Hard pass. If i had it my way we'd play every game at Neutral court. A Home and Home, especially one in a place that's extremely hard to win at, doesn't seem like a good idea if you're Cal/Kentucky.

I guess asked another way.. what does Kentucky gain from this?

This made me think of something (and maybe it's for another thread)..

Would Kentucky, in fact, been better served if we replaced Evansville with Purdue? While it's a MUCH harder opponent, Kentucky would undoubtedly be "up" for that game, as opposed to 18 year olds sleeping through an Evansville game. On top of that, a Q1 loss doesn't affect us as much, just as a q4 win wouldn't matter much either.

With how young our teams are, it actually might be better to avoid the cupcakes and that off chance we lay a stinker. Then again, what happened at Evansville is really an outlier, and first for Cal.

This. Just how difficult is it to win in Mackey when Texas did it earlier this season?

Usually very difficult. Mackey has always been one of the loudest and toughest places to play in the country. As I recall, the last time we went there in the 80s it did not go well for us.

But unfortunately for Purdue, they don't get to play their tournament games at Mackey.

If you sit up high at Mackey Arena you’ll still be able to see the game. No banners blocking the view of the action.
