Any Catspause Old Timers Here?

Are there any old timers from long ago that want to banter about the Hogs/Cats game like we used to almost twenty years ago? I tried legitimate discussion in the "Arkansas Game" thread, but as usual it was hijacked like most of them seem to get. I am sure Junkyard, DMAC, Oink and others that have been regulars for many years would enjoy it too.

My favorite game of the year, a house divided for these games only, wife has been on the winning end far too often.

Don't really know what will happen, hoping for an exciting game and a Razorback win at the buzzer.

Glad we shat the bed against USCjr so we can be primed to give y'all the first loss at BWA this year.

The new unis that Muss broke out look awful. They look like the ones they used to sell at Walmart, where the red was almost purple, with Hog logos in odd spots and it doesn't actually say Arkansas.

Don't think UK has anything planned for Arkansas' next game at Rupp.

I haven’t watched any Arkansas games to really know what to expect on the court. I do know it’ll be a rowdy crowd. I thought we had good composure on the road vs uga, not so much last night.

If UK can come out guns blazing, I think UK wins a close one. If we have a slow start, and dig ourselves in a hole, might not be able to get out of it. I just hope it doesn’t become a whilstle fest like some of the other sec games. Refs are completely taking any type of flow out of the games.

I haven't watched ARK so I can only go by the teams you have played which looks like a relatively soft schedule. However, 14-2 is 14-2 so it looks like the new coach was a good hire and you all have a solid team this year. You are and have been ahead of us in the NET at 24th so it could be a good win for us. I think you're at a disadvantage with us coming off the loss. I expect the cats to bounce back with a solid win and ARK to be exposed some. I don't think you all have played a team like us, warts or not. I think our backcourt and Nick will be too much as long as the three blind mice don't get overly involved.

Arkansas is one of the closer games to me. My dad, best friend, brother, and I have made the trip 3 times. We were there when Jodie went off. The campus is beautiful and it's a pretty cool gym. The fans were fun. Had a great time down that main street.

If they do, it will be next year, since UK plays Ark away one year, and home the next. They are one of the teams that we only play once a year, in regular season.

Richards is the key for Kentucky in this game, the guards match up is tremendous and I see no real advantage for either team there. I do believe that this is a bad match up for Sestina, I am not sure who he can defend, and not sure a zone is something that would work.

With all of that said, watch me be completely wrong and something completely crazy and bizarre happen.

I attended a game in Fayetteville a few years ago and it was when Terrence Jones was a freshman here, y'all won that game at the buzzer. It was one of if not the loudest places I have ever watched a game. I haven't kept up with Arkansas this season but know they will be primed and ready for the Cats...just hope the referees let the boys play on both sides. To the poster above yes that whoooooepigggggsoeeee was in full force the night I was there and you are right it is pretty cool.

Present and accounted for sir....and as always, Ark fans have the best names on the interwebs.

Don't know which UK team will show up Saturday. The UK-Ark games in the old Barnhill Arena was a house of horrors for UK for a while. I expect it to be that way this game.

I will be honest, this game will be HARD for the Cats to win. We struggle against physicality. The Hogs are aggressive and athletic. We must not turn the ball over and give up Offensive rebounds the way we have so far this season.

Ashton Hagans and Nick are the keys to a UK win. Both have to play well.

I can remember when you guys first came into the SEC. Nolan Richardson brought a cocky, hard nosed, never back down attitude to go along with EXTREMELY talented players. I really enjoyed all of the battles we used to have.

I go way back to the old Catspause board but have zero interest in discussing the upcoming game. Who knows which of our teams will show up.

Believe me, I understand. We have been fairly consistent this season but Kentucky will be the best team that we have played, so who the heck knows how it will play out.

Been here since 2003. On and off. Took a long break when it changed over from Cats Pause. Looking forward to the game. We’re hit or miss. It’s untelling which team shows up. I hope the game is physical with minimal fouls called. We struggle in tightly officiated games. If it’s physical and we can take care of the ball, I think we win. If not, we’ll lose.

I recall the game where the cats came from 9 down in overtime to win it. How UK won that or how Arky lost that game I'll never know.

A veteran of Cats Pause and the old boards of 20+ years here....looking forward to seeing how this UK team rebounds from the USC loss. Every road game (and some home games) are up for grabs when you have a level of inconsistency from the veterans, especially NR and Hagans. They are still evolving as a team and have periods of lackadaisical effort on offense and defense, so anything can happen.

Hoping for the bigs to get on track because Arkansas is another physical team that can neutralize the front court. Time for those guys to toughen up and assert themselves.

Also hoping that Hagans tightens up his game and reduces to’s. These guys also need to shoot a solid % from the free throw line...beat the hogs!!!

With the game being at your place I think Arkansas has a very good chance to win. When we’re good we’re very goo.... average and when we’re bad we’re very very bad. I hope we win but this year has been a crap shoot thus far. Not looking forward to this one. Hope I’m wrong.

Not an old message board guy, but remember those 90’s games against Arkansas quite well. Remember Pitino dressing like Nolan with the cowboy boots and all. There were some classic games played back then.

Present and accounted for. I use Sagarin for picking the vegas odds and it's usually money. Sagarin says Hogs should be favored by 2.5. I'm sure that gets bet down to pickem.

We run a lot of five guard lineups. If i were Cal. I'd feed Richards all day. I've brought this up on Hog boards and get laughed at but if i were Cal, i'd press us. We've only got a couple of really good guards with great handles. Desi Sills and Jalen Harris. The rest of them do fine but haven't seen a ton of pressure this year

The difference in this years team is our man to man defense. May be the best I've seen from a Hog team. Our ability to guard the three is amazing. We've got several that can fill it up from outside but will get clobbered on the boards.

Keys to victory for Hogs- Shot selection, share the ball, good defense and don't give up too many second chance points. We will play 7 guys and shouldn't tire.

Keys for a UK victory, take Jones and Joe out of it. Get to the line, feed Richards and play some zone. Take the crowd out of it.

We love Musselman

Crowd will be the best it's been in ten years.

No advantage for either team at the guard positions?? No one has the backcourt we have.

Not arguing your point. From a talent standpoint i agree. You can't really count for experience though and Jimmy Whitt is our x-factor. Fifth year player that started out a Hog, transferred out to play at SMU and came back as a grad transfer. You're gonna laugh at this but he'll probably be guarding Richards in the post. Crazy i know.

We have some very nice guards. On paper they don't match up but they are all dogs and all have experience and Joe is a sniper.

Just talking hoops, not talking ****

Always thought it was pretty cool when you guys renamed “The Pyramid”...... called it “The Pigamid” when the SEC Tournament was played in Memphis. Started on the old Mikrotec UK forum in 1996.

Just glancing at the numbers. A lot of similiar statistical numbers from the two teams. Both are pretty good free throw shooting teams. Although UK has struggled recently(compared to how they started). Neither team is really a good 3-pt shooting team(32% for UK 31% for Ark). Each team offensively scores roughly 75 points a game. Bama gives up about 2 points a game less.
Kentucky needs to control the glass and limit turnovers. Do that and they have a chance.

Pretty sure that was the 93-94 season. We were up 9 with a little over a minute to go and Antoine got off. I think that was our last loss of the year and then we won the Ship

They did show on the screen during the South Carolina game that Arkansas is one of the better scoring teams in the country. That scares me.
