We dug our hole.
Yeah and we got ***** slapped for it too in the Polls.
Yet we beat #3 and move up but 2 spots.
Drop us 13 for losing on neutral courts to Utah and OHio St by 3 and 6 points.
Beat #3 U of L in Rupp by 8 in OT move up 2 spots.
Anyone that doesn't see the disproportion in those two polls is either not looking or is an imbecile!

No they aren't . There are about 14-20 teams all about even . UL is one . UK is another . UL deserved to be ranked #3 and IMO are probably better then UK atm ( not that that crap matters as we beat them so they can suck it ) but UL is the best team we have played this year . Not OSU . BUT for some reason Nwora who is a top 10 player nationally can't do jack against us with how Cal draws up D on him . But make no mistake this is a damn good UL team who will come in 2nd to Duke in the ACC.
You accusing Cal of coaching? I haven't seen a lot of that on this board

Stop it! We have lost to two crappy teams and until our net rankings increase like 30 points we don’t deserve to sniff the top ten in AP.
No! We are 9-3 with wins over #1 and #3.
Im quite frankly not irritated about being #17. Im pizzed because we drop 13 big spots when we lose 2 and climb but 2 chintzy spots when we win against #3.....#3!!!

We moved up 1 spot when we beat #1 and we moved up but 2 spots when we beat #3. That is a damn shame.

Thats called getting F’ed both ways.

I will not stand for it and will text my feelings!

Tough if you dont like it!

Can’t lose to 2 crappy teams and expect to climb back into the top 10 in a week. Those 2 losses will make it where we have to win many more in a row to get back to the top of the polls.
Agreed. Had we not dropped the game with Utah, we would have a legit gripe. That loss hurt badly. I know full well about the anti UK bias. I’m not so sure this is one of those instances.

If we hadn’t lost to Utah we d still be in the top 10. That loss confirmed the Evansville loss.

I disagree. BYU and especially SMC are better this year than previous years. Gonzaga has 2 games against both in conference. Also Santa Clara, Pacific and San Francisco have teams capable of beating the Zags, especially on the road. I think they lose 3-4 conference games this year.
I will give you BYU and SMC, but Santa Clara is 147 in kenpom Pacific and San Fran are 173 and 174 respectively. San Diego is 7-8 on the year btw. The WCC still sucks the SEC who is down this year has 12 teams in the top 100 of kenpom currently compared to 3 for the WCC

Lots of over the top responses to the polls in this thread. I’ve seen lots of bias in the polls in my life time, this isn’t one of those. We are lucky to be ranked top 20 with the losses we have. Not that it matters anyway.

Maybe its because they shot 7-for-27 from three, 9-for-20 from the free throw line and got a 2-for-10 shooting performance from their best player Nwora and still took Kentucky to overtime on the road. With that said, maybe poll should take defense into account.

Get control over yourself. Text your feelings all you want but when your feelings come from outer space be prepared for the backlash. Utah sucks. Cal even made a point to say they beat us then lost by 30 the next game. It’s a long uphill climb for this team because of those losses accept it.

Well I don't think we should be anywhere close to the top ten. But I do have a few issues with this poll. You have Mich. st with 3 losses with one to us, yet they sit 3 spots ahead of us. Ok, I can hear your rebuttal already. They didn't lose to Evansville! Ok, so they lost to a team that turned around and lost to Evansville. See how that works? And Michigan with 3 losses sits 5 spots ahead of us, and they got thumped by Louisville. Also, I'm not sure Auburn isn't being overlooked as well at number 8. Their schedule hasn't been all that difficult yet, but they are one of two undefeated teams left.

This ^^ times a million. With all due respect, ‘crappy’ is almost a compliment to Evansville (at Rupp) and Utah. It’s okay, we can work our way back up to the top but we have to earn it. I wish we were higher but we dug our own hole so now we have to earn things back. We can do it. GBB.

Not only that...let's not forget that we could have easily lost that game to UofL at home...you got fans acting like it was a total demolition when it took us an overtime to beat them at home. I am thankful we won but let's not get carried away

IF UL had been ranked 17 or whatever and beat a #3 UK team they would have jumped 5-10 spots no questions asked.

i don’t think we necessarily deserved to jump to #7-#8 but #9-12? For sure

We won a game we were favored in at home. After losing two the previous week. And nobody really lost ahead of us.

Not a huge deal.
Yeah, some people, for some reason, expected us to jump up to the 13th spot. Even Matt Jones thought we would.

What are these people smoking? Even if we won @ Louisville, we wouldn't jump 6 spots. It just doesn't work that way when you just lost 2 in a row and everyone still remembers Evansville. Nobody is going to forget the Evansville and Utah losses. This is one of the reasons I have been voicing my opinion the last couple of weeks. The Utah loss did it for me. Those two bad losses are going to really sting. All games matter and we gave the voters AND the tournament committee reasons to knock us down however many seed lines they want. There is no reason why we should be losing games to teams like that, not with the backcourt we have and not with a "Hall Of Fame" coach. Now, we're getting exactly what we deserve.

Yeah, Duke lost to SFA, but they didn't follow it up with a loss to Utah.

Lastly, yes, we beat Louisville and everyone feels all warm and fuzzy inside, but it was at home and we still showed we have a lot of flaws.

I hate it, but it is what it is.

We have 19 regular season games left. How many can we lose and still get a top 2-3 seed in your opinion? I say no more than 2 as long as the 2 are Texas Tech, Auburn on the road or Arkansas on the road. Anything more or if the losses come against weaker teams like Vandy, Texas A&M, etc and we are looking at a 4-6 seed.

I think #17 is about where we are right now as a team, but my issue is it sure didn’t take long for the voters to stop talking about the Duke lost to SFA (which by most accounts was a bigger upset) and their best win since that lost is a game against Mich St, which we have that win on our resume as well.

Also, I’d love to hear how these AP voters or anyone can justify Mich St being ahead of us let alone by a few spots. Those are my two gripes

Anyone who actually pays attention to this stuff expected us to fall in somewhere between 14-16
I expected the fall after OSU, but I thought we would be around 12-14 after UL...especially considering the way we played.
not pissed at 17, but 14 would be a lot nicer.

We could lose 5 games and still get a 2 or 3 seed. We’d be 26-8. That’s not a 4-6 seed this year, it’s a 3 most likely possibly 2. 27-7 is most likely a 2 seed and 28-6 could be a 1and a definite 2.

yea. Can’t ***** about only moving up 2 spots after beating #3 at home in OT when ya get beat by two ****** teams prior. The rankings are a reflection of total body of work to this point. I would’ve guessed they’d move up to 14-15 but it’s whatever. Just keep winning.

If we have 8 then several have come to bad teams since the SEC seems to be weak this year. We are not UNC so there is no way we are a 2 seed with 8 losses.

We could lose 5 games and still get a 2 or 3 seed. We’d be 26-8. That’s not a 4-6 seed this year, it’s a 3 most likely possibly 2. 27-7 is most likely a 2 seed and 28-6 could be a 1and a definite 2.

Agreed but it's possible depending on what others do. Purdue was a 3 with a 23-9 record last year, if we have 6-8 losses we are in the 1-3 seed line, depending on outcome of other teams seasons. So 3-5 more losses to answer the question of to get a 2-3 seed. The 2 seeds last year had 5,6,6,6 losses. The 1 seeds had 3,3,5,6
