The SEC/CBS deal comes up for bid in 2020 even though the contract runs through 2022. CBS has been getting an unbelievable deal at $55 million per year.

This guy thinks ABC will offer $300+ million per year for the new contract:

That will increase each schools take by $20 million or more. Gonna be many more new dorms on campus. Will also put the SEC back in front of the B10 for the time being.

One vote for Lynn Bowden to get a chunk of UK's share.

I'm assuming our woman's basketball coach will get most of ours.

On that note:

Earlier this year, the LSU Athletic Department announced they would no longer be contributing ANY funds to the general school budget (they previously gave $1 million per year), because they wanted to be 100% committed to athletic excellence.

They’re clearly ready for big time SEC sports, imo.

I haven’t been this meh about our team and college basketball in general since Tubby’s last years. I like watching Hagans development as one of the best point guards out there and have enjoyed watching Richards show true improvement but the product as a whole is still not fun to watch, IMO.

We have no offensive flow nor identity and big picture there’s a general malaise towards the program in general it seems.

The next 2 weeks could do a lot for my overall energy towards this team and program moving forward.

Pretty much. This year it seems especially ugly bc the overall talent level is down.

I can pretty much watch any top 25 college football matchup with interest and find it to be a great product while I’ve watched countless college b-ball top 25 matchups in the last 6 weeks and find most of the games to be painful to watch.

Not sure why but I think we sweep these next 3 games. Our defense is perfectly set to contain all 3 teams and gain some momentum heading into SEC.

I also think both OSU and UL will strategically attempt to speed us up, and that will play into our favor causing Maxey to shine and everyone feed off it offensively.

I don't know about snow but here I was tonight huddled in a bathtub with the wife and two pups because tornadoes are a thing a week before Christmas evidently. The dogs were champs tho once they figured out no water was being added. All for naught thankfully. Go Cats.

- Let’s wait and see how we finish December before talking about our team’s limitations. This has been the most F’d up schedule I’ve ever come across. Who the hell knows how good or bad we are. Ridiculous.

Anyway, last year we made a huge leap around this time. And no one else is any good either.

- As predicted, Hagans is our best player. I think Maxey will give him competition sooner or later.

- Down to two cats. Gotta admit- miss the little dude, though. Good little kitten.

- Have my one year appointment today regarding my b-pap. I think it’s helped me sleep better and has definitely helped the wife. If any of you are snorers- I’d highly recommend.

-due to a couple sporting injuries ive had 4 root canals. The first three were immediatelyish after the trauma, not overly unpleasant/typical dentist stuff. The 4th tooth took quite a while to "present" need for root canal...it was not pleasant, but the releif was worth it. Puppies scent.

-as with all(barring noel injury)Cal's teams, they're gonna be a solid team come March...with the state of cbb this year anything can happen. Glass 1/3 full if you will.

-lynn bowden, *************.

We go through this almost every year -- early on people are saying SWEET 16 MAX or THIS IS AN ELITE 8 TEAM AT BEST.

Figure people would learn their lesson by now. "It's wide open" is overused at this point, but this year really stands out in that regard. CBB is a mess, currently.

Futhermore, as down as I am about Maxey right now, it really means nothing. Remember how bad Herro was early? ****, only a few of our guys haven't looked like poop early, or at some point int he season to where everyone was like NO WAY IS HE DRAFT PICK ZOMG>

It's frustrating as hell to have to go through this every year, but placing limits on a team in December is plain stupid, and backed up by 7-8 seasons of similar things happening.

The SEC (football) on ABC [sick]. That would be sad, imo - just wouldn't feel right.

Sweet 16 and Elite 8 comparisons have been pretty spot on in the past few years.

The only years it was obvious we were ELITE were 2010, 2012, and 2015 when talent was through the roof. Might throw 2017 in there as well.

That's where we ended up, but that clearly wasn't our "max" potential, which is what people are saying when they post **** like that.

We've been true contenders in March in many/most of those Sweet 16/Elite 8 years, it wasn't some kind of max run to get there. Many of those years everyone in this thread thought we were complete garbage (and we were) around this time. The NCAA Tournament happens, nothing you can do about that - we're the #1 basketball program of all time, and have just 8 championships.

The point is nobody has any touching clue what our max potential is on December 17th.

It’s become fashionable to be a snarky ***** about UK basketball in here. We have some unoriginal bitches who need their own schtick.

- Doing Disney for a week in January and staying at the Contemporary Resort (the way Walt intended, IMO). I’ve been watching The Imagineering Story on Disney+ and highly recommend it. I don’t really need any advice, I just wanted to drop in and trigger the Disney haters and Losers, of which there are many.

I agree with the idea that placing a ceiling on a team is dumb.

BUT, with every Cal team - even the pre-Noel injury NIT squad - it was easy to envision what a run would look like and what had to happen. With this squad, I mean, I don't know. I guess Maxey, Quick and a few others take a step up in their shooting and Cal goes more 3 guard lineup so we can get to the cup off the bounce?

We just don't get anything easy or have a go to scoring option and if you aren't going to take a ton of 3's and make them at a good clip you better have an efficient post or driving threat. Last year, we struck a nice balance between KJ and Herro's mid-range and PJ and Reid in the post. I don't care what the snark on this board has to say, that team could have won the title and the injuries really hurt our offensive rhythm in tournament time.

We needed EJ to take a leap, he has not. We needed Sestina to be a cold blooded killer from 3 and occasionally a go-to on the block, he hasn't yet (although I still hold out hope for him). Nick has taken a step forward and I am proud of him but if he is who you are counting on to get tough buckets then you are in trouble.

The saving grace is that this is the worst lot of talent I have seen in college basketball, maybe ever. Draft experts are scratching their heads. Maybe it's just "in the land of the blind a one-eyed man is king" type of thing.
