*So this is pretty fun. Time for Bowden to take a rest.
* On the subject of recovering alcoholics: many many years ago I was a substance abuse counselor in a treatment center for a number of years. I finally quit because the success rate was dismally depressing.
One thing I can say is that the misinformation spouted on the subject of alcoholism in these last few pages is mind bottling.
It is also well documented in this thread how much I enjoy my libations, so I truly understand what a bummer it would be to have to forgo a big part of your Thanksgiving tradition.
I’m sure treatment has changed and evolved a lot since my day but two things I know haven’t changed.
Alcoholism IS like heroin addiction and, untreated, it is an eventually fatal disease.
A strong family and 12 step support system after treatment is key to success.
Even if you don’t like the recovering person, which is likely since most alcoholics act like a-holes a lot., his success is more vital to his family than you can understand. Your support might not even help him in the long run but it also might be just what he needs right now.
Sorry for the long winded post but it is half time soooo, what Chase said!
It might not be the cutting edge, I am too cool for all of you position, but it is the right thing to do.
Now, Go Cats! Let’s see what a different QB can do in the second half!
