With YoutubeTV you can have it record your team of choice and it will record them no matter what channel they are playing on. Kinda nifty.

So YouTube TV doesn't work if you live out in the country? I have windstream, and I agree, it stinks

Question from an older, not the greatest tech person. If I were to go to youtubetv, do you have to watch on your PC or is there a way to get it onto a smart tv. My smart tv has a netflix button on it so it is idiot proof. Not sure how that would work with youtubetv.

it’s really easy to use. Some newer Smart TVs have it already built in. If you can’t get it on your smart TV though, just buy a Roku or Firestick for like $30. It’ll pay for itself in the reduced cable costs in the first month.

Same for me.

You technically don't get all of the local channels, though. Only the main ones and no KET channels for now.

I have fire stick and pay nothing and get a lot more than Hulu or YouTube tv. I don’t get the SEC network. I have charter so I took their basic cable package with SEC. BUNDLED with my internet it cost me 19 dollars a month. I think you tube and Hulu are expensive. Sling is cheapest with a fire stick

We switched to YouTube tv.

YouTube TV and Hulu-live both have similar channels and both cost about the same. YT tv has slightly more channels but Hulu has more original programming and a better library of shows available for binge watching.

They both have free trials; YT 2 weeks and Hulu 1 week. Compare and decide for your self.

We liked the browser better for YT as it was more like traditional cable/satellite and we could figure it out and find things easier. Hulu menu is more like Netflix and we struggle with that one also.

It seemed while watching live sports, YT was less jittery and less pixelated.

The best part about all these is even beyond the free trial period, there’s no commitment. Hell try one out for a month or so and get a good feel for it, if you don’t like it, no problem, cancel and try another one. And so on until you find one that works best for you. There’s no equipment and no contracts.

If your smart tv has a netflix button it may also have the option to add the YoutubeTV app. Could you post what your tv is? Maybe we could help.

There's the CW (which you do actually get), but then channels 18, 27, 36 and 56 have 5 or 6 channels each that you don't get. There are also some other over the air channels you can get above 56. You get the main ones, but you certainly don't get all local over the air channels.

I don’t know what those are, but whatever they are I certainly don’t miss them.

I'm not home right now or I would. It has a youtube button on it, but I'm pretty sure that is just youtube videos, not youtubetv. Could be, and actually hope, I am wrong.

My Vizio Smart TV bought a few years ago has Netflix, Amazon, YouTube, etc... built in but no YoutubeTV. So yours might be similar. No big deal though to grab a firestick or roku.

Yeah, I only have the $10 sports package on Sling during basketball season (comes with NBA TV as well as SEC Network, ESPNU, etc.)

Imagine he's talking about the sub-channels to the local over the air (antennae) channels. 18.1 might the NBC affliate then they also have 18.2 18.3 18.4 etc for other programming like METV, LAFF, CRIME TV, etc

You should be able to download the YouTube tv app on your smart tv :)

Make sure you pay close attention to the channels offered by each provider compared to the channels you watch a lot. Each provider offers slightly different packages. I made a list of the channels we watch the most and picked the provider that best filled what we were looking for. In my case that was Hulu Live. It had an add on package that included the cooking channel and DIY that we watch quite a bit. Those channels were not offered under You Tube TV. I would recommend you do a similar analysis to determine which service will fit your needs the best.

I dunno. I feel like once you buy fiber internet and then tack on hulu and/or something else it ends up being close to a wash regardless.

I really just factor it in as a COL increase and move on. This is the world we live in. I still have Spectrum with all the bells and whistles and my payment isn't insane.

That said, I can understand why people cut the cable.

Alternatively you can do what I used to do. Have one for 12 months under a promo and then switch to the other local provider for 12 mos under promo...so on and so forth. That is a bit of a pain in the butt though.

Basic Charter with the SEC Network plus a firestick is starting to sound viable.

Or Youtube TV.

Another question. Do you need a firestick or roku for each tv in the house or does one work with all tvs?
