Baker wouldn’t touch the floor for this team. He’d be our 5th best guard. Some people have 0 basketball knowledge. Glad the kid is doing well, though. Hope it continues.

JP Scott has statistics on shots per game over the years in the Pete Maravich thread. We are taking about 35 less shots per game than we did at our peak under Rupp. We're below the national average on shots per game.
Old man you can't compare basketball in Rupp's days to basketball today. UK had the only basketball team in the SEC back in Rupp's days. Kentucky could have shot 500 shots if they wanted to. No defense from the other JV teams in the SEC in Rupp's days. Just another negative post by Mr. Pessimist.

Well compare it to other teams today. Hell, Tubby had as fast a pace of play.

Cal has his guys and he wasn’t one of them? Good Lord. Our fan base sometimes.
explain to me this, why would a guy like Hagans last year get to look like all out **** 85% of the time and not ever get reprimanded or benched? Then a guy like Baker does one thing wrong and their benched for the rest of the game. If Cal doesn't play favorites then explain that. Especially in critical moments like the Elite 8 when Hagans was literally losing the game for us single handily and he can't find a spot on the bench, meanwhile Baker who literally the game before against Houston came in and was the hero because he the was only one who guard on the perimeter or we just lose to Houston. Why couldn't EJ(who i don't think is very good) not get any clock in the same game when literally no one could protect the rim? If you don't think Cal has different sets of rules for different players, I don't know what you've been watching the last 10 years.

I'll never understand the pace Cal elects to play with the talent he has.

i'll never understand how a fanbase who will be the first to tell you how smart they are about basketball doesnt know that its easier to slow down a game than speed it up.

after 10 years you think people would get it. most teams prefer too slow the game down against uk as much as possible. example: eastern kentucky wanted to run with UK. we blew them out. evansville milked clock and packed it in.

uk could have tried to force tempo by pressing, but that requires making shots. something uk wasnt doing. or just play faster. but uk was turning the ball over a ton anyways. and taking quick shots pisses the fans off anyways.

so here we are...asking and answering the same questions over and over.

Then you haven't been watching the games. Cal is always trying to get the guards to hurry the ball up the court.
do you really think yelling go on the sidelines is the same thing as playing fast? you in here trying to clown people and you have no idea what the hell you're talking about. What are the guards supposed to do when they dribble a million miles per hour up the court with nothing established in the front court offensively? It's Cal's whole system he wants to play slow. If he wanted to play up tempo we would.

And why don't you go pull for some other team. You will never be happy.

Go be a fan of Louisville. They run fast. Cal has won more games than any other coach in the last ten years. Sorry if that hurts your agenda.

that is such a bad take. Everyone wanted to slow down UNLV in the early 90's did they? Everyone wants to slow down UNC every year do they? People wanted to slow down the good Villanova teams from a couple years ago did they? Cal is a good coach but he wants to play slow or else we'd play up tempo.

lol. got to love that stupid fan stuff. 1 player in their eyes did everything wrong. that player averaged 8 ppg and was co defensive SEC player of the year. the other player made 2 threes his first game in and then shot like **** the rest of the season never made a mistake.

When teams use most of the shot clock on most of their possessions the key for us is to play defense for the whole possession, and the means to defensive rebound. We didn’t and they won!

i also referenced teams from this year and every year, but you don't have an answer so you do the typical moron thing and say something like okay boomer. I'd be willing to bet I'm younger than you are, i just know what the hell i'm seeing and clearly some of you don't

16 points off the bench and lighting it up from 3. We sure could use him this season.

Good for him. Really! But your team will not make it very far this year, next year, or the following years. Also most of your games nobody watches or really cares about. Jamari will ride his career out in silence. Just like your team!

see this is where your frustration and stupidity combine to merge different independent topics into what you think is a rational thought but is really non sensical gibberish.
this is you again not being able to answer a simplistic question. did ashton hagans look like a good basketball player in the auburn loss? was it his his 7 turnovers you liked? his 25% from 3 perhaps? his sec defensive player of the year award winning defense as Auburn's guards torched him for 24 and 26 points perhaps that you loved? And I'm on the who can't have a rational thought for suggesting a guy who had looked like our best perimeter defender in the game before and saved us from losing to Houston in the Sweet 16 play more than 4 minutes and get benched for one stupid foul on a 3 while others are out there making non stop mistakes. Got it

Confuses me as well. The only thing I can think of is that controlling the offensive pace will better control the defensive end for the younger players.
I think it is a simple reason. With teams full of new players each year who are not familiar with each other I'd say he slows it down because we would have a ton of turnovers if we played faster. Missed cuts, sloppy passing, players not being in the right spot. Cal has to keep the training wheels on as long as possible with basically a new team each year.
