Is it just me or are this year’s nets less silk/swishy and more like the Big Ten’s heavy cotton nets? Does Coach Cal wanna slow the pace of play or what’s going on there?
Same...we'd usually get one every year or two, but they just didn't last long hanging out in the weather on the front of the garageI very seldom seen a net growing up.
I prefer the metal clothes hanger that you bend into a rim and wedge between the door and door frame then a nerf ball.
I remember doing this. Used old shoe boxes and balls made of paper and tape as well. Would make a net out of notebook paper. Now my kid has a goal with realistic breakaway rim, net, and shatterproof backboard hanging from his closet. Kids these days don’t know the struggle.
Until we got our hands in it while going for a block, lol .I’ll always love the sound of a swish through chain nets.
Lots of my friends have gone to the Duluth (sp?)) brand and love them . Just saying.I used to like cotton growing up. It was good on my balls. Now that I'm older I've switched to silk. Prefer the luxurious feel...on... my... oh... I thought we were discussing underwear. Never mind.
for a couple of years I also had an ABA red, white, and blue basketball with that net, very visually pleasing swishesAbout every 3 years or so I’d go with the red white and blue net.
My high school team played in a weekend tournament down in Tennessee. First game we draw the host team . Turns out they have a killer full court press and I'm the point guard so. Anyway every basket it would take the ball about 5 or 6 seconds to funnel through the net , giving them time to set up their press . That night we ran into a few of their players at a nearby restaurant , they told us their coach washed the nets and dryer them in a clothes dryer the night before each game . True Story.
A team that was in our district when I was in high school had about 3 boys that started that weighed around 250-280 pounds. They had longer than normal nets on their goals. My coach said it was to slow the ball from coming through because those big boys couldn’t get up and down the floor too well. Folks always got pissed at me for doing that, also added the plastic potato/veggie mesh bag and use that as a net.
You guys were rich. Living high on that hog.About every 3 years or so I’d go with the red white and blue net.
I thought I was the only one! Made my own nets out of blue yarn. Jimmy Dan from the corner...swish.I prefer the metal clothes hanger that you bend into a rim and wedge between the door and door frame then a nerf ball.
We rolled up underwear back in the early 60s we didn't have a nerf ball!!!I prefer the metal clothes hanger that you bend into a rim and wedge between the door and door frame then a nerf ball.
