I really enjoyed watching Richards play last night.

I thought his play was pretty good except when he was shooting. Every time he took a shot, I assumed it was going to be short. But I don't think we win that game if his ankle had kept him on the bench.

Yes, agreed. His defense was solid. He hedged on screens better than I've ever seen him do it. Pick and roll defense has been a nightmare in the last couple years because he couldn't seem to move his feet fast enough to defend without fouling. He would either leave too early or too late, foul, or be out of position. But he looked solid last night on the pick and roll and he looked solid defending the post. His length really caused problems for MSU.

If he can become more consistent with that jump hook, we become a different team, even better. With his height, 7-5 wingspan, and 36in vertical, nobody can block that shot at the top of his release. He hit one and it looked very nice, very smooth. I think it will come.

The charge he took at 8:13 in the first half was awesome. It was the one on the alley-oop that would have been an and-1 if he didn't get his feet set.

He hustled "with a purpose" instead of helter-skelter. Showed improved bb IQ. Guess he's finally getting somewhat caught up in basketball experience. A big 'ole late bloomer!

He’s visibly developed past the has-no-idea-what-he’s-doing phase, and that’s scary for the rest of college basketball. Makes him a lot more fun to watch.

Completely agree. Over the last couple of years Nick has shown us what he can do, but only in small bits. While he wasn't Nerlens last night, he was a consistent positive presence on the floor. I hope that can continue.

Can't remember him falling for the head fake trick. Kept his feet. I, too, think with more play and continued confidence that little hook will find its way home more often than not.
