maxey could have gotten all the way to basket and had a sandwich first before time expired.

the three pointer has ruined basketball you get this constant hero ball to chuck up bad shots. A great 3 point shooter shoots 35-40 percent which means even if you're great more often than not you're gonna miss it's a bad shot almost always

Virginia had no big men last year worth anything

No, but they had seniors and guys that hit threes at crazy high percentages.
They also played incredible defense.
So many people keep using Villanova and UVA as examples, but they were veteran teams that learned how to win by losing tough games for so long.
We aren't UVA or Nova. We certainly CAN win with what we have, but it most likely won't be by using the blueprint that those programs used.

We are MUCH better, at this early stage, than I thought we'd be, we're MUCH better defensively than anyone has a right o expect this early in the season.

We are very good.

Was talking to Jef Drummond and both of us see the same impressive crispness from UK that they rarely have this early in the season. Defense/toughness looks way ahead of where it should be for a team with new players but also has to do with returning two point guards and two other rotation players

He actually called that timeout because mich state had their use it or lose it timeout, plus wanted to get Winston in the game. It did look odd the way he handled it though

I'd love to see us get more looks for Sestina in the second half. Best post scorer we have but afraid he isn't athletic enough for a game like this.

He’s not tall enough to play in the post. Not sure he played that much inside at Bucknell. Too bad we cannot get any looks from 3 fir him, but Mich St not letting him.

Aside from some bone headed lapses, the defense looked solid. We rebound better than I thought.

Spacing needs work. We passed on some good looks.

All the more reason for them to drive the ball and get to the rim. Attack on ball reversals. This will help mask our weakness of not having a proven post scorer. This team is really one piece away. Man what a reid or pj could do for this team. Just 1.

Agreed. I want us to win this game really bad, but there is clearly no reason to freak out about this team from this point forward. Still might take an L they shouldn't, but it's clear as day this team can be cutting the nets if they keep progressing.

Michigan State played sloppy, I think mainly because of our defense. I am so surprised that our defense is this good this early. Imagining we improve like I think we will this team could be one of my all-time favorites.

Ummm hitting 33.3% of 3s equates to 50% of 2s not many people shoot over 50% from 2 therefore the 35-40% shooters are better off shooting it and the 32-34% guys are break even or better. That being said I’m loving our D and the offense will be deadly by seasons end. Let’s keep the gas pedal down!
