I live in Western Ky. on the Indiana border, I stopped at a Thornton's service station Thurs. morning at the start of work to get a USA Today & a cup of water. When I came out to get in our service truck I noticed the SUV parked next to us had a dUKe plate on the front. I have seen the vehicle before & recognized the lady driving it, she was coming out behind me so I made a point of acting like I was trying to squeeze between the vehicles without touching hers to get into ours, she asked if she was parked too close I said no mam I'm just trying not to touch your vehicle I saw the plate on the front & was afraid I might get burned or catch something from touching it. She kinda smiled & said let me guess your a UK fan, I said why yes mam I am what other fan is there do tell? I said I can't believe you would drive around with that crap attached to the front of such a nice looking vehicle & she said why because we're in Ky. & I said no because dUKe sucks no matter where you live. She said her some son & husband both were dUKe fans & I said so your whole family makes poor decisions not just you. She laughed , I wished her a nice day & told not to give up there's still hope for you. I saw her again the next day same place & told her we have an intervention scheduled for you & your family.
Go BIG BLUE she just smiled shuck her head & said Kentucky fans. We wished each other a nice day & nice weekend & parted ways.

To this day, I still do ever Monday after Selection Sunday. Dad always did it. And I've done it as long as I can remeber. I don't use it like some of the more modern bracket resources, but it just gives me a warm and fuzzy nostalgia feeling.

The good ole days before the internet took over. Anyone remember trying to pause the VCR in the right place so you could write down the bracket? Anyone remember making sure you got your paper early before they sold out? Did you have a guy at work that ran the brackets each year and always had the copy machine hook up?

Let me see if I got this right. You insulted a Duke fan for no other reason than that they were a Duke fan. You were met with a smile and them wishing you a nice day. And yet, you somehow think you walked away being the better person? Not once. But twice? I hate to break it to you, but the Duke fan won. Twice.

I call BS on this one. or was it meant to be?:)
Dude call it what ever the fu(k you want, I really don't care about your or anybody else's opinion on here. It was just a friendly interaction not meant to be an interrogation. Your probably a dUKe fan & a millennial like a few others on here. Yes I buy a USA today every day M-F, I'm old school I like to hold my news paper in my hand to read instead of burying my face in a phone to read it. This is why I don't post on here very often. Say hi to mother for me.

Hey CSB it wasn't a competition just a friendly interaction. Say hi to mother for me.

What are the chances a guy who chose to name himself “dukesux” would seek out a confrontation with a duke fan?

Pretty good I’d say.

OP, look I'm all for friendly banter with opposing fans, but it did come across as a little over the top and probably somewhat dickish.

I have UK represented on my car, front and back, and a good amount of my casual clothing. I take pride in representing BBN in enemy country and am always civil and cordial to opposing fans. In my situation, one nice UK fan can make an impression, one dick UK fan creates a facebook post and reflects on the entire BBN.

I think the time has past to call Duke fans "bandwagon". I'm 40, Duke as been good my entire life. Heck I was born in 78, and we hung a banner on Duke that year.

Most of their fan base is made up of people who have never set foot in North Carolina. They may have jumped on the bandwagon 20 years ago but they have zero vested interest in anything other than ratface. I have a few friends who have been duke fans for a long time but when they lose in the ncaa they get upset for a minute then enjoy the rest of the tournament. One friend I have bought tickets to the last 2 final fours thinking duke would be there. When they weren’t he went and had a good time anyway. A real fanatic of a team wouldn’t have those attitudes but all of them I know have no connection to duke at all. One of which is a high school coach. I know one guy who went to duke and loves cbb.

Contrast their fans with ours and you will find an entire state that needs Prozac after a loss. No one in North Carolina cares if duke losses most are excited when they do. UNcheat fans now on the other hand are a different story but duke fan base is made up of long time bandwagoners. It doesn’t matter how long they have been good most of their fans have nothing to do with duke in any other way. If some guy in Detroit became a duke fan 30 years ago Bc laettener hit that shot then he’s still bandwagon imo.

You sound like a real prick and I’m not gonna call you a real fan, just a punk.
back at you bro. you sound like bigger prick. you weren't there, we were just joking with each other it wasn't malicious. I'm going to go out on a limb & guess by the #87 in your screen name that's your birth year & your a thin skinned millennial. I've probably been a fan longer than you've been on this earth. Tell your mother I said I Hey.

Look, I'm not disagreeing with you. I get your point. But, kids that saw the CL shot are now adults, and have been for some time. I'm 100% in agreeance that most Duke fans are really just K fans because they've never seen anything different.. Just saying, we can't call them bandwagon anymore. Only one team has five different coaches with banners.

No worse than those fans who say “well my dad was born in Paducah, so I’ll root for Kentucky” (and they live out of state).

So now you have to reside in Kentucky to be a fan? I don’t think so.
Seems to be awfully close to the complaints I’m seeing about UNCs fan base.

Look...Bandwagon and front-runner fans come from anywhere. Heck I know of a Duke B-ball and Alabama football fan..living in MS.

It happens because they like following winning teams.

Man I’m from Lexington and don’t know anyone like that. I rarely meet anyone without a real connection to the school or the state. I taught high school out west and rarely had a student who pulled for uk. Lots of UNC and duke.

The reason that the op has so few posts is that he posted under a different name and tried to pull the same stuff, PS Op, Don't judge everybodys mother by you're own.
