He can go where he wants, he knows where to go to get noticed and get to the next level and win too. The longer he goes without deciding the more he falls behind in team chemistry wherever he goes. Everybody knows what happened with McDaniels and how they felt, it's not worth the worry.

Obviously don't want to come here. Supposedly Cal has talked to him & family before Nick & EJ came back. If he is so tired of the process why add more schools? I think we will have to go with what we have & hope for MAJOR improvement from 3 returnees.

I have a suggestion. Why don’t we all just calm down. Obviously, this kid is like a child in a candy shop. If we get a visit Cal will work his magic. If he doesn’t choose UK after visiting that will tell you a lot about him. If he doesn’t visit that will tell you even more. UK has a great chance to win #9 without him. If he chooses us then our chances improve. A blind person could easily see that and if he can’t then I’m not sure how much he would help us.

We have a lot of posters that really stress about everything, especially recruits. Just think about that for a minute. Grown men and women allowing kids to control their every thought. WTF is wrong with you people?

I love UK, Cal and our teams. I’ve been a fan since 1966. I’ve seen every team and every coach we’ve had since 1966. I bleed blue but I refuse to allow anyone and especially a kid to control my every thought.

I’m smart enough to know any kid that doesn’t choose UK doesn’t want to work hard. Doesn’t want to deal with all the competition. Doesn’t believe playing for Cal will make a difference in where they are picked in the draft. Only cares about themselves and doesn’t want to be a team player. Or, Or, Or, is just plain dumb. Or they have handlers or parents that want money or a house in order to commit to a school.

So, let’s all calm down and grab a drink. Think about the weekend and love your family. I promise you will be a lot happier. Love And Peace BBN. Love the team we already have, because those are the ones that will play for each other, Cal, UK and Y O U.

Penny is a snake oil salesman.
Tells you what you want to hear.
I don’t think that’s a good fit for him. I’d rather see him got UF or Gonzaga than that crap hole.

A grad coming to a no-name school with a new coach and a bunch of prima donna freshman? Thats the furthest thing from good use of a year of eligibility i can think of. You might get them... but can you coach them to play together? I only know one guy who does that.

I think what he means is that Penny better win now...because he did very well recruiting this class because he coached the #1 player and was involved in the AAU circuit and had good relationship with these players...

The further removed he is from high school AAU....his ties aren't as strong. If he doesn't win big next year....his star diminishes....he becomes a 90's NBA star that's the coach at Memphis....if he wins big he can get his pick of elite players.

I get that but I was saying I think it will take multiple years of struggling for him to wash out. Unless he just completely collapsed as a coach and his prospects just bombed in the draft, which is highly unlikely with that much talent, I think he'll do well on the recruiting trail for at least a few years. That's all I was saying. Plus, I think he will be successful anyways. Folks want to say he cant coach or dismiss him all together simply cause he doesnt have experience and that is ridiculous to me. He may not be able to coach and could end up being fired but I'm not betting on that simply based on his lack of D1 experience. Either way, I think he'll be relevant on the recruiting trail for several years regardless of what happens.

He will live in wisemans shadow. He will also play behind the bacot or whatever the hell his name is for the cheats. I don’t think either is a viable destination. I do believe he will end up in the sec, just hopefully the right team. He would play 30 mins a game if not more

How did he stab Cal in the back? Is there some type of off the court thing he did because recruiting the same kid is definitely not stabbing someone in the back

I hope not and maybe it's because I'm being petty. After, Cal was good to Penny and then Penny stabbed Cal in the back. Well I hope Penny goes down in flames.

I think Cal allowed Penny to be with him during a visit to Wiseman. Maybe more than one. Not sure but I've heard that Cal wanted to hire Penny. Penny then exploited Cal's nature using the privileged info for his own use knowing his own plan recruiting Wiseman himself. Penny had better succeed as a head coach. If true as I have read Penny p_ssed in Cal's Wheaties...

I'll literally cry if we lose this one to Penny.

Hopefully he comes to Lexington over the weekend or Monday and commits.

This was part of it but not all. From what I remember (given it was post from here) there was some shade thrown at Cal and our program, to help in recruiting. I understand him wanting a head coaching job and recruiting, who wouldn't. However, when Cal helps you get there (pretty sure he was being considered for a position here) then you bad mouth him and the program he represents... I don't care who you are trying to impress (boosters or fans) you should fail and I hope he does.

When a friend helps you accomplish your goals and then you speak badly about them (because it's convenient and helps you in recruiting) that makes you trash.

I agree.

I read yesterday that he is basing some of his selection on availability of his grad school classes. I have no idea what these are, but if they are not available at a school it is a red flag.
Maybe he should consider the AFA. Virginia Tech is an excellent engineering school. Perhaps he could actually get into one of the toughest places to be accepted in the land. And he’d definitely get plenty of PT.

I think your hilarious but you are correct. Posters allowing kids to control how they feel and what they think. You still think it’s Florida?

Why am I hilarious? (I am, but that usually doesn’t show thru on message boards.)

I'm in the minority here but I think Penny is going to do well while he is there. Unless he has a complete meltdown of teams over the next couple years, I think he is going to continue doing well on the recruiting trail in the future.

Did you see anything from last year to suggest he is a top coach?

Really starting to wonder if it wasn't going to work out for Blackshear to visit UK this weekend and it's going to be next week, so in meantime, Blackshear decided he was 'interested' in Memphis. Visit for a day, meet Penny, who he probably grew up watching, then move on to UK and make a decision between them and Florida next week like the expectation has been all along.

I'm going to be very surprised if Florida or UK isn't the pick.

Yeah, he’ll probably do okay. I’m just saying it helps to have 2-3 Wiseman/ Jeffries at the ready. Although, Memphis typically generates more basketball talent than the entire state of Kentucky.

Definitely agree!! That's a major reason why I think he will do well. He is bringing in the talent thus far. It would be a pretty bad botched job if he doesn't do well in that Conference. Lol. That's a major reason why I think he will succeed, he has a soft conference to dominate.

Who said anything about being a top coach? I surely did not. Never said a word about being a top coach in the game. He has a long way to go to get there but yeah....he had a good start.

They were 22-14 with a bunch of players Tubby recruited. I think that is doing pretty well. As much as I hate to admit it, Penny is set up for success at Memphis. Just like Cal was setup for success there. Guys who can recruit well are setup perfectly at that job and in that conference.

Let me ask you this.....

Did you see anything from last year to suggest that he won't be successful at Memphis? What did you see that suggest he will fail?

I swear KSR just comes to Rupp Rafters to find out the news and then they re-post it. Every big news break/thread gets posted on here, and then 20 minutes later it's on KSR.

I think you're kidding yourself if you think KSR doesn't search twitter the same as the rest of us.

If KB didn’t make a mock draft for this years class with his stats, he’s not making it on any next year regardless of where he goes. He’s not gonna get anymore exposure than he’s already gotten. He’s the #1 grad transfer on the market. Scouts know who he is. College teams know who he is. The acc knows who he is. Everyone knows who he is and yet he’s still not on any mock drafts after having a great junior year. That won’t change with another year to age in college. Very very rare if at all.

Yeah, you're probably right BUT if there is 1 school that can change that for him....its UK. No other school will give him the chance that UK does. No other school will give him the best chance to be drafted higher than UK. We have all the tools that are needed to get him where he wants to go. Will it happen?? Who knows but we offer the best chance he has to get his name called. He very well may be at the peak of his stock in the eyes of scouts but there is no other school that will even come CLOSE to furthering that potential like Cal can do! Period! Prove me wrong!

UF trolls that this they can compete need not apply!

Come on down KBJ!!! Come on down!

USAFA isn't taking grad transfers. Four years, no exceptions.
