Terrance Brooks’ father, Chet, played for the San Francisco 49ers for three seasons before suffering a career-ending injury in 1990. During his time with the 49ers, Chet Brooks was a starter on the Super Bowl-winning XXIV squad. Chet Brooks says that Terrance reminds him of a mix between Los Angeles Rams defensive back Jalen Ramsey, Pittsburgh Steelers free safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and New England Patriots defensive back Stephon Gilmore. Brooks was a two-way player at running back and cornerback during his freshman season at Prosper (Texas) before transferring to Plano (Texas) John Paul prior to the start of his sophomore year. He played there for two years but transferred to Little Elm (Texas) High so that he could graduate early from high school.
