For those who have had a problem with some inconsistent play or people calling this team young, last night's starting lineup consisted of 3 sophomores,1 freshman, and 1 senior. The first 2 off the bench were both freshmen.

In conference play, the statistics of this 21-5 team are dominated by these same 4 underclassmen who maintain 4 of the 5 highest PERS, the 4 highest EFG percentages, and 5 of the 6 highest scoring rates.

The future looks really bright for Iowa women's basketball.

We could easily have a starting lineup next year with all five players having experience as a starter.

I suppose McKenna Woliczko may have something to say about that -- and you never know what we might get out of the portal -- but if I were making a prediction today, I'd guess we go with Chit-Chat, Stremlow, Deal, Houston, and Heiden. After last night, all five have started at least one game for the Hawkeyes ... and none will be seniors.

My guess is that Woliczko comes off the bench (early) to start the season until it becomes obvious that she deserves to start. Freshman always have an adjustment hurdle.
