Lobbying is a dirty word, no doubt. But my company employs lobbyists to plead our cases on important issues. They tell our side of the story and what we feel are the implications. We support candidates that we feel understand the issue and why it is important. That is called the First Amendment. I am all in favor of banning gifts to politicians, but you can't ban campaign contributions.
The one measure Trump is taking that I like regarding lobbying is that if you work in his administration, you can't engage in lobbying for 5 years and in some cases, 10 years. He is not letting them profit over their government service.
