McDonald's said Thursday it has stopped selling Big Macs in Venezuela, making the US chain's iconic hamburger the latest casualty of severe food shortages triggered by an economic crisis.

"At McDonald's Venezuela we are working to resolve this temporary situation. Together with our supplier we are evaluating the best options to allow us to continue offering quality products," the company said in a statement.

It did not give details on the reason for the suspension. Venezuelan media reports said McDonald's was no longer able to source the thin slice of bread that separates the sandwich's two meat patties.

I know we stretch ourselves too thin in this world, be we and other nations may need to launch a massive humanitarian effort. I don't know how those people arrived to this socialistic catastrophe, but they will probably need some help getting fed and into a more stable economic and trade situation. Maduro might the 1st to be eaten in this mess.

Get rid of ALL fast food! That stuff is garbage and leads to many of the health ailments we have in this country, and other places.

Speaking of McD's, did you happen to see they were actually selling packaged Big Mac sauce at retail for a very short time earlier this year in Australia ?? As understand it, they sold out the limited supply (something like 4,000 bottles) in minutes......many of which were said to have ended up on online auction sites selling for $100+....and which reached pricing in the thousands.

I'm a big fan of the sauce. Have tried several times to replicate it. Can't get it exact.

If I'm not mistaken, there's a You Tube video out there where some McDonald's corporate chef......maybe the top guy......mixes up a homemade version in his own kitchen.

I can't request Horsey Sauce at Arbeys with a straight face. Sounds like something you would walk around to avoid, not something you'd put on the food.

Ever ask them to make you a "ghetto mac"? My son explained to me what they were and we tried to get them at different Mickey D's. Some knew what they were and did do it while others had no idea what we wanted.
