I hate to think about this, but if we are going to run a more conventional offense as opposed to spread RPO, isn’t Wimsatt likely to transfer?

Don’t we need an OC first
Yes, but I’m not sure he’s going to wait. I’m not sure he’s even any good and neither are we. Either way, I think we definitely have to bring in a QB transfer because Simon can’t be the only backup

Everyone relax. Did you listen to Schiano’s press conference .. he said Gavin made big strides last Thursday to this Thursday, and if he makes them again this week and again the next week .. basically hinting that he could see lots of playing time or even start later this year.
Don’t forget he’s a freshman. And he definitely looked like a freshman when he played earlier this year. He’s seen the film, he knows about his bad reads and INTS. Clemson benched DJ yesterday, you don’t throw away the season we’re 4-3 for the seniors to just play a guy “for the future”. Gavin doesn’t seem like the kind of guy to have such a demand either which would be selfish and disrespectful to the seniors on this team. You play to win right now, and Gavin will have his shot.

1. Is he healthy?
2. Do we know how much NIL income he is getting?

Wimsatt's dealing with an injury that will impact his ability to effectively run the ball, and he's not yet where he needs to be passing the ball. No idea how close to 100% he even is right now - and he's still working through normal freshman decision-making and development issues.

He joined the team midway through last year, has gone through a single offseason, and is only 4 months past when he would have ordinarily been graduating HS.

Vedral won't be here next year, and he knows next year's starting role is a battle between him and Simon. If we suddenly go with a pro-style OC for next year, or we somehow land a stud pro-style QB in recruiting, that would definitely impact his decision - but right now I don't understand the handwringing.

Gavin has time to get used to any offense RU plans to run and worrying about a transfer is
a little far fetched for a player who knows the coaches are planing for him to be #1.

Looking forward to seeing Wimsett play, he may be mobile but that arm of his, his future will be due to his arm, not his legs, hope he realizes that.

Wimsatt had good offers so if he picked Rutgers there must be specific reasons
His family seems nice, and the kind that would appreciate the "Schiano Way" (Father Greg)

It takes a lot to adjust to the speed of the college game. I'm sure Wimsatt and the coaches all know his level at this time.

He was good enough In HS to think that once he makes his adjustments to this level and his physicality matches.. he will be fine.. if we do not ruin him with unrealistic expectations.

We are looking at some programs with 24-year-old and even 25-year-old QBs and the kid is, what? about to turn 19 at the end of this month?

He has much room for growth. Let us give him what he needs to do that.
