I only watched the last 5 minutes of the game today but what was with Jeremiah Williams laughing multiple times when we were down….and then also after we lost the game.

Tell me not to make a big deal out of this and maybe he was talking smack but it was pretty damn annoying seeing him giggling away multiple times as we’re losing to freakin Kennesaw State.

For a guy who didn’t leave Piscataway/New Brunswick all summer I’m hoping he’s the leader on the court we need him to be this year with all of the freshman.

he was talking smack to the Kennesaw St player was taking a foul shot trying to get in his head, I dont really see a problem with that...didnt see the other giggling

his play has been disappointment but for now will chalk it up to his injury

I saw that instance but there were two other times he was laughing in the last 5 minutes including after the game ended with Ace.

Just not something I want to see out of a veteran leader especially when we’re getting taken to the woodshed by a mid tier low conference opponent.

Didn't watch this game (good), but this team hasn't looked serious yet this year to me. They've played hard in spurts, but overall, they seem to play like they're in all-star showcase games. No hard work grinding on D, not interested in fighting for rebounds, it's all 'let's have fun out here and just put on a scoring show' for the fans.

These are potentially troubling occurrences and it all falls on Pike. He needs to right this ship … NOW.

Yup. They play like an AAU team.

Saw the same thing and it was going on most of the second half. He was laughing after getting annihilated and outplayed, out hustled by a freshmen. Kid put him in the spin cycle and he thought it was funny. Not something I want my senior leader doing when the team is full of first year players.

Issue is they are constructed like an AAU team. I had hesitations whether Pike could be a NIL coach where you are basically getting a new team every year, and trying to get them all on the same page and up to speed ASAP. Pike strikes me as a 'this works after you've been in the system for a year or two and everybody has buy in'. We essentially have 2 expensive rentals in Ace and Dylan (and others who will be leaving that we just don't know about) - it's like a pickup team at the Y. Pike may really need to dummy down his system. I don't like unregulated NIL where teams switch every year, but that's the landscape - it's really adjust or die for him.

Williams is still struggling on offense but his second half D was key to RU’s comeback to almost even. He had 4 steals and really pressured KSU. His best game so far this year.
I lreally liked Williams aggressiveness and athleticism in the 2nd half - it's what separates him from Durkack IMO. I think Williams stepping up and being a leader is one of the keys to this team being successful.

Agree with you but other teams I’ve seen have totally bought into systems. I just watched Wisconsin who unexpectedly had Storr and Hepburn transfer out and plugged in Tonje and some others and they are a well-oiled machine not missing a beat. Nebraska did the same thing with a ton of new transfers. Neither play like an AAU team and Nebraska is even emphasizing a more physical style than usual. Maryland looks good too. Teams adapt and we look like a mess with no emphasis on defense or rebounding whatsoever.

And another thing, I love Dylan Harper and think he’s our best player right now, even over Bailey. He’s all class from a class family. However, he’s still a freshman and will of course make mistakes. There was a play in the first half where Dylan got beat badly near the FT line and didn’t even make an effort to recover as his man went in for an easy two (of course, there was no help defense either). If that was another player, he’d have a seat on the bench, and if that was Gavin last year or some others , they’d sit for a long while. I can see where Pike has his work cut out for him this year.

I see leadership issues, something that I believe has been a hallmark of the Pike era!
The Williams, Lathan interaction late was concerning

Agree entirely.

J Will was atrocious in the first half. My words not yours. He was disruptive in the second. He showed me leadership and balls. Hopefully his offense picks up just a bit.

Has it ever occurred to you ******* people that you are watching a game on TV have no context for any of this ****? This complaining that the players didn’t have exactly the expressions you wanted as they lost the game is one of the absolute worst genres of fan ********.

Says the guy who thinks everything can be explained through an analytic.

Haha stfu dude.

Williams was laughing multiple times in just the last 5 minutes of the game I was able to watch including after the game.

You might be okay with that but I would rather not see this multiple times on tv from my veteran player after getting waxed by phucking Kennesaw State.

Saw it too. Could be getting in the guys head. But i think some guys don't have an emotional investment like fans do. They get paid. Move on to the next game. Merry gp round transfers. Do any of the guys on the team know the words to the alma mater?

Aww did an athlete on the team you support have the audacity to not look devastated throughout 100% of that loss that you only bothered to watch the last five minutes of?

How Dare He.

It’s the truth about you.

You always have issues with other peoples observations if it can’t broken down by a data point.

Take your head out of the spreadsheet for once you dork. Sports are more than numbers and calculations.

Sorry I was busy taking care of my 1 year old and couldn’t watch the entire thrilling game against Kennesaw State on CBS Sports network.

So is it okay if I post any observations from all of the games I travel 2 hours round trip to the RAC to watch in person?

Or okay if I post any observations from the Vegas game I’m going to support the team in person for?

Or am I only allowed to post observations that you can fit into a spreadsheet?

Williams busted his *** in the second half. He was dreadful in the first half but was a very big reason for the comeback. He was a terror on defense.

I’m not disputing that

He was playing hard the last 5 minutes but still doesn’t explain why he was laughing.

I said in the OP the one time it at least looked like he was trying to talk smack but not sure why he’s giggling away after the clock ran out with Ace after we lost to frigin Kennesaw state.

Nobody should be laughing away after a loss like that. Excuse me if I expect better out of our supposed veteran leader.

Actions speak louder than facial expressions. He left it all on the court. I don’t care if he made balloon animals for the team after.

Agree but let’s also be real he’s been bad so far this year and in your words was “dreadful in the first half” which I would imagine contributed to the loss against Kennesaw?

So did he really leave it all on the court for a full 40 minutes?

Maybe laughing away helps him play better, what the hell do I know.

Difference is you have the number 2 and 3 pick in the NBA draft. Problem is your supporting cast is trash. Has anybody come to a conclusion yet that maybe Karl Hobbs was really important to the “system”?

Reminiscent of a scene from the hockey movie Miracle. Pikiel would probably be fired if he responded the way the coach did in that movie.
