Will Tomasello wrestle Sunday?

Does any one know what the status of Nathan Tomasello is and whether he will be back from his injury? The reports back from a couple of months ago said he anticipated being back the beginning of January. My guess is that if he is ready he wouldn't wrestle Nick as his first match.

I don't know, but they are on the road against Maryland on Friday, so that will be the indicator. If Nato is coming back this weekend, he will be with the team and will wrestle at Maryland. If he goes against Maryland, I assume he will go at Rutgers.

I would guess NATO does not care if Suriano was his first match.
He is not a RS Freshman. He has wrestled the best in college and world team trials. It will be interesting to see if he can make weight 2 days out of 3. This weekend will probably tell the story where he is at.

Is he fully healthy?

Tom Ryan is the biggest seed protector, dual ruiner in the sport.

He announced NATO will wrestle against Maryland and NOT against Rutgers

What a shame. If he’s healthy enough to wrestle Friday, he should wrestle Sunday

Spencer Lee is coming out of redshirt. The Big Ten has four hammers at 125.

Everyone assumed that NaTo would only wrestle 1 of the Fri/Sun B1G duals when he announced the move back to 125, because he's sucking too much weight, so it doesn't make sense to make it twice in the same weekend all season.

NCAA coaches like Ryan continue to minimize the regular Dual season to prepare for the NCAA tourney in March. Tough to grow College wrestling that way.

Agree, he should choose Sunday not protect seed

Yep, if he can't sustain the weight cut for the weekend, then make the cut for Sunday to give the folks a show. Of course, if you can't sustain the cut for a weekend, then how is sustaining it for, say, a Thursday, Friday and Saturday in March any different?

Tom Ryan absolutely robbed Suriano of the 1 seed.Let's see how this will work in March if Suriano beats him.

Even though they aren't wrestling at this dual meet, there's no avoiding Suriano at Big Tens. However, I guess Suriano deserves the 1 seed at Big Tens if he's been wrestling at the weight all season.

Having a 1 seed at NCAAs is going to be helpful in this stacked class, considering there are over 10 quality wrestlers to navigate through.

Suriano would have too for sure win the Big Tens for the 1 spot at NCAAs.
Having one seed is somewhat of advantage depending on the road of landmines he has to wrestle to get to the championship.

I would think Spencer Lee is a 5th seed in the B10 as it stands now.
He doesn't have any other experience in the NCAA. Does Iowa wrestle Northwestern or Minnesota before NCAA?

Same thought. How exactly can he hold 125 for 2 March Tournaments?

Not really, since as someone posted they will meet at the Big10 tournament. Ryan has been known to protect seeds but I gotta agree with him here. Nato has not wrestled 125 in over 2 years and has not wrestled a match yet. If Suriano wins the Big10 tournament he will be 100% seeded over Nato at Nationals.

if Suriano wrestles Lee in semi's, NATO might not face him.

I think the Top 3 of B10 (NATO/NS and SL) could beat each other anytime they wrestle. Even if you favor NS, you have to admit he could lose if he was not 100% on his game.

I will be on the edge of my seat pulling for NS

I think Damian Cruz could get the NCAA 1 seed as Cruz won't lose this season based on Lehigh's schedule. I wouldn't think Cruz gets seeded less than 1 since he won the NCAAs last year. That could put NATO, Suriano , Rivera Lee and others fighting it out for seeds 2-4. And at that point, it might be better to face Cruz in the Semi's as the 4 seed, than to be in the bottom half of the bracket and see Nato, Suriano,Rivera , Lee etc.

Agree esp since nick tends to get conservative in big matches. I thought he would smoke Rivera I heard he was down start of 3rd period

Don’t forget Lizak, Piccinini and Bresser. This weight class has become a real meat grinder. I still feel Nick will win, but there are more land mines out there. He has to bring it every match. Bigs are going to be crazy alone with NATO, Lee, Lizak and Rivera
