Put together a 40-0 team before his time is done?

He's been close to doing it no fewer than 3 times --

2008 with Memphis
2012 and 2015 at Kentucky

Calipari has never denied that he wants to do it -- So the question is ... Will it be done?

He may but I don't know if he should. 38-2 is nice. I'll take that every championship season. As long as 1 of the 2 isn't to IU or UL.

I seriously doubt it...

This season was the best chance he was ever gonna have.

Only way to do it is under the radar type start. Unranked at the beginning. Anything else and gambling makes you lose eventually.

The 2016 and 2017 high school classes look VERY strong. If we can get a few guys to stay back like Willie and the Twins did we could be hunting for 40-0 again soon.

Nope, there is a reason it hasn't been done in 30 plus years and I actually dont care about going 40-0 titles count nothing else.

No. Not going to happen. First, the SEC is going to improve. Second, this was the year. Opportunities like that don't come along very often ... if ever. The opportunity was there, and the opportunity was not completed.

This was the year to do it. Thought this team with 10 players would start the trend of not having to start over every year. Besides KAT there were no true superstars and with so many players it would be impossible for a mass exodus. However a guy that made 13 shots in his last 12 games is going and "the best shooter ever" who shot TWENTY NINE percent from 3 over the last 18 games is leaving.

I only care about being 6-0 in the tournament. If that happens to come on the heals of a 34-0 regular season/SECt, then that is fine as well.

After this year I've decided to stop caring about 40-0. I just care about National Championships.

Nope, the SEC will be too good 2-3 years from now. This year was the perfect storm.

If a guy like Wall, AD, Nerlens, Julius, and KAT ever comes back...yeah he will go 40-0

His run here at UK is amazing...and it's even more absurd because each year he's come up just short he's been 1 returning player away from a title, and in the case of this past season, 1 returning player away from 40-0...

if JR came back...40-0

Yes, of course it is possible - and Kentucky is one of the very few programs that could pull something like that off.

This was one of the best possible teams to do it and we didn't get it done. It sucks and we are all in shock about it. Doesn't mean the opportunity is gone forever.

With that being said - like the other posters before me - I don't think I will ever be fully invested in 40-0 again. I will be especially nervous if we ever enter the tournament 34-0 again.

I don't want to hear it mentioned again. It would be great, but it's not the ultimate goal. I just want championships.

Kentucky is never under the radar. We don't get that luxury. GBB

Yes, I think so. This team was very good, but could have easily lost another 3-4 games. Put together another roster like 2012, get a few breaks, and combine it with a down year in CBB and it could happen.
