82 to 34 Fury punches landed. Pretty much speaks for itself. Wilder was very gracious in his post fight comments.

He hit him behind the ear on the first knockdown. Wilder turned into it, but it is still an illegal punch. It changed the fight, that's everyone's night night spot

I've seen some complaining about Fury, but it seems that Wilder just got his *** beat. I argued with a guy at the bar before the fight that Fury would win. He was slightly intoxicated, and loudly proclaiming Wilder is too good to lose. I threw $100 on the bar, he stared at it momentarily, reached into his pocket, and pulled out $53 & some change. He said, I'll bet however much this is that Wilder knocks Fury out. I said I'll take it. I went home with $153.19.

I rewatched the fight last night and rewound certain spots to get a good second look. Also helped to be sober. Fight night was “lit” as the kids say. Here’s my non expert but fairly educated breakdown:

Rd 1- Fight night I thought it was Fury but after a rewatch I think it was even. Fury outlanded 8-5 but Wilder landed the best shot and looked good adding a new wrinkle, the dbl jab. The biggest takeaway was the tone that Fury set coming straight at him.

Rd 2- Thought it was even live but now think Wilder won the round. Fury landed a really good jab but Wilder outlanded him and was active. The 2nd rd I started to notice something I’ve never seen in Wilder and it was a deep deep respect for Fury’s punches and movement. Some might describe it as scared but I’m not disrespecting Wilder with that description. In the Ortiz fight where he was losing the whole fight he was very cool and unbothered. Just waiting on his moment. He looked very uncomfortable in the new look Fury coming right at him. Another thing was at the end of the round Wilder’s mouth was gushing blood in the corner. Even though I’d have him ahead at that moment by a rd and fighting ok, he was already taking significant damage and looked to be on roller skates.

Rd 3- This is where Fury took full control. The overhand right that knocked Wilder down changed the fight. It caught him square in the ear hole causing a rupture. We all immediately noticed the ear pouring blood at my house. So now you have Wilder’s mouth and ear gushing blood and his balance is now effected. His legs were never the same.

Rds 4 through 6- Fury is just pummeling him. He’s now landing huge body shots and Wilder looks totally defeated in every way. It’s amazing he didn’t get KO’d. One big criticism for Wilder’s camp was his corner. They looked to be in shock. They never really worked on him hard often not even cleaning him up all the way. All they were saying was step back and use your right hand. It was like even the corner didn’t no what to do. Everyone was in denial.

Rd 7- This is obviously the round Wilder’s corner threw in the towel. He was just getting destroyed so I have no issue. Wilder wasn’t happy because he said he wanted to go out on his shield like a warrior. He’d rather get KO’d that quit. Man how can you not love that guy and his mentality? It was hard seeing him get dominated like that but he was a great champion.

Overall- The change in style for Fury with the new trainer changed the fight. It might have changed the history of boxing. Fury looks like a unstoppable beast. When you watched both guys pre-fight in the locker room, Fury was loose as a goose while Wilder was really intense. I think that bore out with Wilder looking really tight and under prepared. This is just my theory but I think Fury won this fight when he got up in their first fight. I think Wilder seeing a man get up and shake off his power had a psychological effect that doomed him. Again, I hate saying he fought scared b/c he’s clearly not, but everything about his composure was different.

What’s next?- Looks like Fury vs Joshua is setup but I’d almost like to see Wilder vs Joshua next. Joshua lost a lot of capital when Andy Ruiz knocked him out. I’d love to see Wilder beat up Joshua and then the trilogy. But this is boxing and if you do that you never get the biggest bout in England’s history. I think we’ll likely see Fury vs Joshua first. No idea where Wilder goes next if that happens.
