Why would you pitch to Tim Elko?

I'm in no way a baseball expert, but why would any team pitch to Tim Elko? Since he tore his ACL, dude has 7 home runs. Since he's on a bum leg, shouldn't you just intentionally walk him at his first at bat to where they have to pull him in favor of a pinch runner? Is it some un-written rule or crap like that?

They’ve been letting him run the bases. Just not in late game critical situations. He can run. Just not well. It’s not like he’s on crutches.

I’ve been saying this for weeks. He can’t run. Every time he got on 1st, USM would have an easy throw out to 2nd. And if there’s a double hit there’s a good chance you hold him up at 3rd. I’d walk him every time

I think it was the Vandy series where Elko walked. Next guy up hit what was easily a double but was only a single because Elko doesn't trot fast enough to make it over to third base.

He’s definitely a liability on the bases. I’m just saying if you walk him in his first AB, they aren’t going pinch run for him.
