He’s been on my personal want list for a couple years now. I would love it.I think we could convince him to come here from ISU.
Hoiberg took a few years to get Nebraska rolling. I think he’s a solid coach but he’s at a program where he could build it the way he did. He couldn’t do that here he would have already been fired. We would for sure probably pay more, if that’s important. Fred Hoiberg would be awesome also, NBA experience and connections but not sure he would leave Nebraska
Funny thing is… Everyone who tows this line, isn’t sad about it at all!Sad to say Pope will be back.
Guys like Hoiberg, Otz or McCollum aren't going to give you an instant turnaround like Cal did in '10.Hoiberg took a few years to get Nebraska rolling. I think he’s a solid coach but he’s at a program where he could build it the way he did. He couldn’t do that here he would have already been fired.
Exactly and it’s why I don’t want those guys even being contacted until Hurley, Oats, Golden and maybe even May have turned this down atleast twice. Those first two listed would turn us around in year one. Golden possible could. I don’t know that May could but it’s possible.Guys like Hoiberg, Otz or McCollum aren't going to give you an instant turnaround like Cal did in '10.
Coaches know UK fans have no patience and want to be going toe to toe with Duke for the best of the best.
All three of the aforementioned coaches are at schools where football is really first and their fanbases are content on letting them build the way they want.and that way is not chasing the Tyran Stokes of the basketball world.
On paper, UK should be Iowa State, but well you saw how that went.
Hurley,Oats, and Golden are definitely the top of the food chain for any Blueblood opening.Exactly and it’s why I don’t want those guys even being contacted until Hurley, Oats, Golden and maybe even May have turned this down atleast twice. Problem is we are a decade from the last final four and nearly 15 years from a title. Patience is running at an alltime low for alot of BBN. Atleast with Hurley, Oats or Golden I think we’d have more patience if year one didn’t go good just because they’ve proven they can win and are legit. Bringing in a guy from ISU, Nebraska or Iowa would be a total crapshoot. They could just as easily be swallowed up by this job like Pope as they could win.
Maybe thats why ee should hire him. It might be the only way we ever start getting a fair whistle. ALL of his teams have always played that way, and maybe we need to foul out 5-6 kids a game for a few games to bring it to light and maybe start getting a fair shake. I haye losing but would gladly sacrifice a few games to that endI honestly believe our opponents would shoot 50 FT's a game with the whistle we get. It seems like every time our defense has looked any good the last few years we get decimated by foul trouble in short order.
