Why is Mizzou so bad?

They used to have a good rivalry with KU and pretty good tradition. Their current coach is not getting the job done.

Why? Because they don't care. That's why.

Missouri has a rich history in basketball and Norm Stewart was a hell of a coach. They've just made some bad hires that haven't worked out post-Stewart for one reason or the other.

OK..let me add...I lived in the StL area for 14 years...trust me, the people in that region don't give a S*** about college BB. If you want to believe they do, good, but I never saw it!

I know there are few fans of Mike Anderson here, but I think he was a good coach for them .

Rich history is a bit of an exaggeration IMO. They have never made a Final Four, although 5 Elite 8's and 7 Sweet 16s is solid for a place like Missouri.

And yes, they suck now due to the cheating and probation and having a well below average head coach IMO. Nothing against the guy, seems like a nice old man, and has done good things at lower levels of coaching but this is high level division 1.

They have a rich history that stretches back 80+ years. Norm Stewart is a legendary coach but post Stewart they've been sanctioned twice by the NCAA: once that killed off Quinn Synder's promising NCAA career and another due to Haith not to mention Anderson bolting for Arkansas.

The state of Mizzu has had some serious studs too.

Hansbrough
Beal
David Lee
Porter
Mizzu should have gave Daddy Porter a job and got the stud son.

I grew up in Missouri and use to love watching Norm Stewart's coached teams but once he retired they slowly just made bad hire after hire. Quinn Synder could recruit pretty well but he loved partying too much.

It's dumpster fire... and Kim Anderson has had to endure a bunch of defections, as well.
Fair or not.... I can't imagine mizzou bro if him back next year.

I'm kind of wondering if their current coach is the "clean the program up and then be fired after probation is over and we can hire a real coach" hire.

A decent up-and-comer could be moderately successful there. Mike Anderson was much better at Mizzou than he has ever been at Arkansas.

It is pretty sad the only conference win that either LSU or Missouri has was when they played easy other. Somebody has to win in that situation. What should have happened on January 4th was this.

As a die hard STL fan that grew up going to St. Louis, and was raised in Tennessee 10 minutes from Missouri, I second this. The state in general doesn't even care about football. Missouri is St. Louis cardinal baseball country, even in Kansas City it's about baseball from my experience,
Although they love the chiefs. Go Cards, the real ones.

Frank Haith left a dumpster fire in Columbia that Kim Anderson inherited. Player defections and sanctions have really hurt the basketball team. Anderson needs some time to turn it around; but will he get it?? Haith should have been banned from coaching. Total loser who was in it for himself and the school and players now suffer.

KC is Chiefs Kingdom. City gets behind Royals when they are good, but lots of St. Louis Cardinal fans in the KC area; lots of Cardinal fans in the entire Midwest.

Yea our fan base is pretty wide. Into chicago, all of Missouri, Kentucky, and most of Tn is cardinal fans. Greatest tradition in the national league and best fans in baseball!

Grew up in the 90's with Ozzie, Jefferies, Zeile, Lankford, Jordan, etc. practically spent my summers there at the Marriott. Best time my life chasing the ball players around getting autos with pops. After the game stop at the old Mike Shannons for the radio show and some steak. Killed me when Torre left for New York, still miss listening to Jack Buck on the radio. Cardinal baseball, the only thing that matches UK to me.

Oh I could just go on but I won't

I miss running/jogging through StL on game days smelling the brats and dogs being grilled inside the park, and it wasn't unusual to see some people tailgate, for a baseball game. Even during weekday/night games the crowds are huge there.

Yep, St Louis is definitely a baseball town. Did anyone there even notice they had an NFL team for a while?
