Why I still love the Pirates

After that disastrous last year, I feared that this would be another torturous year of watching
the Pirates be in the cellar of the Big East. The coaches picked them to be the worst team in the league spawning my greatest fears.
However, after a mediocre showing against inferior teams they piqued my interest with their performances in Hawaii. This new vision
of a brand-new team took root in a four and one record in the Big East.Then flaws started to show, and a four-game slide followed.
In too many first halves they became the gang that could not shoot straight. The endless useless weave became the key offensive strategy, and the reality that maybe the coaches assessment preseason was right on target, But then the Lazurus group rose from the dead again with home victories over Xavier and Marquette. The embers of personal hope spawned a new flame as the team heads into two arenas where they have not won since SPK was in grammar school.
The bottom line for me is that I still bleed Pirate blue. and with all their flaws I have loved this year a helluva lot more than last year.
My blue glasses are on, and I predict that we are going to make it to the Big Dance in March.Go Pirates

Idk why you feared this year was going to be like last year. Sha was never going to allow that to occur. Plus this year’s team just has more talent than last year’s team.

I’m not as optimistic as you about making the big dance, but hoping we can finish the year strong and sneak in. This year is still 20x better than last year.

The afterglow and optimism after a Pirate victory is quite a thing. Makes our days brighter. Unfortunately, the opposite emotions after a loss can be even stronger. Mother Seton pray for us, Lady of Victory pray for us.

I was really irate after depaul loss and seeing that st johns choke. I've said I'm still so bitter over missing 2024 tournament. I admit I'v been a hypocrite going hard after Sha cause Sha should've had one tourney with us already. I just feel this program has so much potential and maybe not be like Gonzaga, but be a very respectable program that can be competitive most years.

I'll still be pretty frustrated if we come up close again and miss with how we started, but there isn't that annoying tanking culture like in professional sports nowadays. I appreciate teams giving their all and being competitive. I just hope we can get back hopefully this year or sooner and hopefully be a face of programs without money but still find success in this more professional NCAA.

I think if we make tourney or not this year we have to keep guys unlike last year. People will unfortunately leave, but hopefully the guys we keep can get better and make us competitive.
