Wisky down by 3 with 2 seconds left in game going to the line.
Issue near the wisky bench and both teams get a T.
Why don't they have them shoot? Clear advantage to Wisky as Illinois isn't great. If Wisky makes both and Illinois only one..or Illinois misses both with Wisky still getting 2 more for foul it could make all the difference in the outcome.
Wisky could have gotten OT or even the win there.
Glad they lost but that doesn't seem fair.

Those were horrible T's to call in that situation, so I'm glad they didn't affect the game.

Trice was unconscious over the last 5-10 minutes, though...

I think the T's were called only because the refs knew they would have no impact. They were simply sending a message.

Trice scored 19 points in the last 2:16. Illinois held them off by going 10 for 10 at the line in the last minute, when Wisky was in immediate foul mode.

Perhaps and that would make sense. But my question still stands in the event of real Technicals.
Its not like football where you walk 15 yards one way then turn around and walk 15 yards back.
Guys have to make shots.

Yeah but the reward/punishment is the same . So why call it to offset.

But if one is a 5 yard infraction and the other a 15, they don’t mark off 10 yards.

I thought the T on the Illinois player was a no brainer -- what caused the T on the Wisky bench?

And I agree that the T's should be shot by both teams, even though it would not favor RU if RU is in that position. Making or missing those opportunities is part of the game.

Generally yeah, you're correct but just thinking what do they do if a 5 yard offside and then a 15 for personal foul after the whistle? I know its not the exact same situation but I do think they go net 10. No argue, just thinking here.

The answer is not to delay or slow down the game. It didn't used to be this way

It use to be that all double fouls, whether they were personal or technical were shot.
That was stopped quite a few years ago. Techs are also counted as personal fouls against the players involved and I think they are also team fouls.

Yeah, this is the answer to speeding up the game lol. Every time a player farts on court they review it.
The question was why. This is the answer. Whether or not you think the plan is a good one, this is still the reason.

I don't care enough to dig up articles from when this was done, but it is the reason given.
