It is quite curious.
Their Draft prospects have been minimal at best during the enitre process (except with that one HS coach with a google doc).

Not being invited to the Draft Combine or the G-League camp really slammed that home.
That they are prolonging this so long is interesting. I'm sure if they were staying - Pike already knows.
But why not make it public?
The acclaim of "declaring for the draft" really ended when the invites weren't received.

If they give up their college eligibility (especially RHJ) with little to no expectations of being drafted, would be wild.

Was thinking of posting this also - would like to see some affirmation that they are both coming back tomorrow.

They're both coming back, every mod on this site and elsewhere has essentially said the same thing. I don't know why fans don't seem to want to follow the NBA circles, there are players with higher draft stock than both RU players who are returning to school. Let the school decide when they want to announce things.

There is no requirement that they publicly announce. As long as they inform appropriate sources by tomorro, of which Pikiell is one.

We are following the draft circles. And we’ve heard everything the mods have said. It’s human nature to be nervous until everything is set in stone

It's been set in stone for awhile now. An announcement doesn't mean the decisions haven't been made. Kids commit weeks before announcing and drag the process out to generate discussions etc.

Hawk I am going to step back off the ledge. You are usually very on top of this sort of thing, good insight etc. at least this way if something goes south I can blame you!😜

Pretty surprised and happy for Geo getting this many tryouts. Guys like Vanfleet on the Raptors carved out a nice career undrafted. Really shocked Ron had 0 workouts.
Hopefully Geo is back

My dance team daughter said she was at a party with Geo over the weekend and he asked her for her snapchat handle. :) I said screw that did you find out if he is coming back to play for RU next year - she said "I think so." Take that for what it's worth.

Can never be sure until it’s official, but with NIL I’m not sure there’s the same financial motivation to go pro early if your not going to get drafted. Unless you just really hate attending school and want to be done with it (neither seems like that type of kid).

Kind of annoying to say the least. Scheduling a workout the day of the deadline?

When was the last time a 5th ur senior was drafted. I'm actually curious. NBA draft is all young guys
Last year, Grant Riller (RS Sr) was picked 56th overall by the Hornets and Sam Merrill was picked 60th overall by the Pelicans as a senior who had taken a 2 year LDS mission before beginning college (so not a RS Sr, but he was 24 when he was drafted).

In 2019, Cam Johnson (RS Sr) was picked 11th overall. Cody Martin (RS Sr) was picked 36th, Eric Paschall (RS Sr) was picked 41st, and Marial Shayok (RS Sr) was picked 54th.

It's not the common path to the NBA, but it happens.

That's a lot more recently than I thought there would be.

So he is visiting Toronto for fun.
Toronto is doing its due diligence and a headstart on a player that is not going to be drafted this year, but could move his stock up after this coming season. 90% of the NBA Draft boards have already been solidified and there's no downside to have a RU player work out and get positive press for the program. When a player from RU gets in front on NBA scouts for anything, it's positive press for RU, recruiting and all aspects of the program and the player.

It would actually be bad news if the players who have performed well at RU, did not have requests for workouts.

If I were a betting man they both stay. However I wouldn’t be shocked if either or both are not.

they could be back, go pro (overseas), or maximize NIL and test the waters in the portal.

We have no idea what feedback Geo got. The personnel along side and the position Geo will be asked to play on Rutgers might not be the best situation to showcase a NBA career. Or it could be.

Neither have entered the portal yet and the deadline to transfer and be considered eligible for next season passed.

Then the GRF probabilities of them returning just went up.

when did Kofi enter portal and when was the deadline?

There are those with much more access than him that have expressed some concern. I don't think it's the slam dunk we all think it is. I think he's back, but I've also been a Rutgers fan for 35 years, so I prepare for the worst. Glad to see Geo back, at least.

Edit: now with both back we can all breathe a sigh of relief.
