Where do we find 2 more wins?

At this point, the team is regressing due to injuries and the coaching staff is not changing their approach. I really don't see more than one win the rest of the way (Minn).

If the defensive futility continues I can’t see another win on the schedule. Sorry to disappoint but we ain’t built to win shootouts.

Now if the defense can somehow pull itself together, then it becomes a different calculus.

Let’s see what Joey H. is made of. This is a gut check for him.

Get those LBers in their gaps!!

Them being so grossly out of position is unacceptable. -They didn’t just walk on from the street, they’ve been in the program for 2-3 years..

Come on man!!

Is 2 more wins, as unlikely as it seems, really going to salvage this season? No, and it's going to be a tough offseason with lots of question marks for Greg.

Agreed but I doubt any one of us wants to go 4-8.

I didn’t buy into the overheated hype coming into the season. I thought 9 or 10 wins was fantasy thinking, did not think the schedule was that much easier than previous years. A lot of tossup type games. My best case scenario was 8-4. However, anything below 6-6 is a major disappointment, even accounting for injuries. The quality depth should be much better with so many 4th and 5th year players.

I think so. Recovering the season and making a bowl is much better than losing out. While maybe not perfect, Rutgers would still be playing semi meaningful games. if and when the season is lost, that's a very different narrative
do you think any of our players worth a lick will actually play in that meaningless game against a nobody

Minny, at home coming off a bye, has to be one

Maybe we take that momentum and get another the next week in college park

Zero confidence vs Illinois or going to East Lansing for the finale
Agreed that Minny is a must.
MSU is possible. No room for error.

With all the injuries, something major needs to change. Maybe play a hurry up offense (cause Defensive Line fatigue) and try to outscore teams like Minny, Maryland, Illinois and MSU that have better defenses. Hope these teams miss making some offensive plays.

Each of our 4 remaining opponents cannot afford to have a key player or two go down either.

Anyone thinking otherwise is just being stupid.
Salvaging anything from this season given where we are currently at...which I don't expect....would be huge.

I couldn't say. I don't think it matters. Losing the game wouldn't be as damaging as losing out. More experience for the future players might even be beneficial if starters choose to skip it

does getting to 6-6 and playing central michigan or troy in the Detroit bowl really matter at this point
I think playing in a post season game matters no matter what.

Will we care? Probably not that much, but it’s important for RU to stop being viewed as a loser.

At 6-6 you might not be a winner, but you aren’t a loser either. Perception matters.

You have to win the bowl to not be a loser if you're 6-6.

Getting to a bowl at this point would be a positive. Greg actually does his best coaching for bowls so there's that too.

I would think 4-8 or 5-7 is most likely at this stage. Not really going to salvage the season. My biggest concern is what’s going to happen roster-wise. I could easily see the 2025 class fall apart. If I’m part of that class I am seriously wondering what the heck is wrong at Rutgers. Had good momentum and didn’t show up. Maybe the staff sells it as opportunity…since we lack depth…but I am worried about recruiting and even portal recruiting. Thought the future was bright but really doubting that now.

Most were fooled, but not Shelby. Shelby diagnosed this coaching cancer even before the hire. Two decades ago the ‘success’ (third place peak) came after the best teams left the league.

The stink is 10x worse now. Just as the cream rises to the top, sludge and rot sinks. Just wait until our next class has Muhlenberg and Roger Williams College decommits.

The 2025 class has a lot of interesting prospects...especially at linebacker.

Yes. From perception of fans and recruits, would you rather a coach/team who folds up shop and goes 4-8, or a team who is able to overcome what has happened the past month? We have one decommit for 2025 already.

If they have honor and pride for the team/coach they signed up to play for, they should. If they want to sit out for any reason, especially if monetary decisions are driving the bus, then I really don't care. I'll still watch and root for the players who show up to play in any bowl they can get into.

yes, because they care and are happy to make a bowl.
Also there will be some hoping the bowl game improves their draft status.
Though some that might be high draft choices will prepare for the draft instead, which has been going on for years now by every program's players.
Last years Gator Bowl seen Notre Dame have players opt out
  • Marist Liufau, LB (NFL Draft)
  • Joe Alt, OT (NFL Draft)
  • Audric Estime, RB (NFL Draft)
FSU had Keon Colman WR skip the Cotton Bowl to prepare for the NFL draft

Jason Daniels LSU's QB who won the Heisman Trophy decided to opt out because he was going to be a high pick in the draft and expected to be among the first 5 to go.

What you're implying is something that happens with other programs when they play any type of bowl game you might consider a must see or not worth your bother to watch
