what is your point? Do you think RU has a good or improving basketball program? What will you say if RU loses by 20?

Choppin beating the Monmouth program is something all RU fans should want and expect.
But if that happens this board will be full of it doesn't take much to beat a MAAC school posts, like you implied.
Right now Mu is Ky compared to RU by the looks of some posts on this board, but ( sadly) the way Rutgers has been playing most schools might look the same compared to RU.
When RU wins no one will be crediting RU for beating a team they gave KY status ( compared to RU)
and finding fault with RU's victory.

I must give the Hawks and their HC credit for the year they're having so far and hope it will continue AFTER their loss to Rutgers.

His point is that you guys like to find reasons to whine. You are making our win against a Monmouth team into a no-win situation.

He is rightfully calling for less whining, more pro-EJ.
I'm calling for more WINNING and then more pro-EJ. He had a chance to sell his vision and he blew us off. Because I'm an idiot I'm expecting a spirited effort from RU and hoping for a win on Sunday.

The Hawks were 0-30 against Big East until last night's 15 win over GTown. At 7-3 with wins over USC, UCLA, GTwon, and ND (all on the road)..that would be a very solid win this year for RU.

We'll see if we even keep it close. The upside is they like to go up and down with 4 guards..so maybe that opens things up for RU and a better match up. Has the potential to be an entertaining game.

I am going to the game with little hope of actually winning.....I watched a bit of the Georgetown game and was very impressed with the Monmouth team....

it seemed like their guards would drive recklessly towards the basket, almost out of control, but did not turn the ball over and more than not, the team got off a decent shot.

When Stewart and Seaborn shoot well Monmouth becomes very hard to guard.

Their bigs are nothing special but they play 3 of them

I'm not shocked if it's a competitive game. Any player in any sport with a lick of pride is not going to let a smaller instate school walk into his house and kick his ***.

The problem is our guys showed no pride vs. SHU. Hopefully, it'll be different on Sunday. We shall see.

If we beat Monmouth I will be very impressed.

Me too. I'm as down on this program as I've ever been but I always want to win. I'll be VERY impressed if we somehow win this game.... and unless the Monmouth starters all can't play, I'd certainly give credit where credit is due.

On the other hand, a blowout loss at home to Monmouth is just more fuel to the fire.

1) we ain't beating Monmouth

2) Monmouth beat us last year, head-to-head, in all sports. A truly pathetic achievement by this university's athletic teams.

Worth noting...opponents have shot a ridiculously low FT%

I can't remember if Rutgers ever defeated Georgetown on the road. For that matter even Rutgers teams with winning records in the past usually had great difficulty winning on the road.

Monmouth has now defeated UCLA,USC,Notre Dame and Georgetown on the road which is a record that not many teams could achieve in the same year.

I don't see how Rutgers is going to win this game when Monmouth might have more fans at the RAC and certainly the momentum based on prior success this season.

You are SO wrong. We will be happy and very impressed. Like we were after the Wisconsin game last season. And, yes, that's the last time we were impressed. Well, maybe after the loss at Maryland too.

a win would be nice but it would mean absolutlely nothing if the team does not build off of it ala Wisconsin last year when they built a 15 game losing streak. I wouldn't write off the chances to win this game. Monmouth is do for a letdown, they are getting a lot of hype right now and a lot different when you are the hunted rather than the hunter...how will they respond to the pressure of being expected to win

Monmouth has played up and down to its competition this year. Canisius was a terrible loss where they gave up 16 3's in the game, including 12-20 in the first half.

That being said, Monmouth has had this circled on the calendar for a year, and would be shocked if they didn't come out ready to play in this one.

As of today Monmouth RPI = 12 and Rutgers RPI = 237 so it will be a shocking upset.

FDU RPI = 184 and UMass Lowell RPI = 197, so beating either of them will be upsets too

This data is truly mind boggling and makes you wonder how much lower can Rutgers drop in the RPI?
