When did Powell get hurt?

Less than 3 minutes in the back of his head smacked the court pretty hard when he drew a charge on Mathes. He grabbed his head with both hands when it happened. About a minute later he collided with a teammate and it looked like he injured his eye.

I saw him hit his head in real time (it happened right in front of me) but he got up quickly. When I got home and watched the DVR, it looked harder then I realized. Definitely could have gotten a bad concussion from the way his head hit. Hope for a speedy recovery.

I posted this last night (when I told everyone that he was in concussion protocol) but twice in the first half when Powell came out of the game he was complaining to the coaches that he couldn’t see. I’m not saying Willard did anything wrong but Powell got banged up early in the game and the right move was finally made getting him off the court at the under 4 TO.

we probably only got to see about 10% of what Powell is, as a player yesterday....

SHU was down their best big man and Powell, for the most part.....I would equate that with us being down a couple of players, say Harper and Johnson one or both playing injured, or out

...hard to win when you lose your best

make no mistake, loved stomping on them, which we do on rare occasions.... the best part is we have bragging rights for a year

Having watched the game live and then the replay when i got home, I didnt really notice Powell taking any hard falls or charges. I thought mulcahey took a harder hit on the charge he drew. But having kids that play football and hockey, i understand the gravity of concussion protocol.

I don't agree with mods BK censoring KYK. After rewatching the game again, i think Willard was hiding behind his team's deficiency with the Powell excuse. I cant stand any Big East school and I'm glad we handed them a beat down.

Was watching the game back. Definitely think it was around 17:34 left in the first half. Took a hard charge from Mathis. Hit the floor pretty hard and I think he also got kicked in the head by one of his teammates as when he fell down, one of his tall teammates tripped over him.

Hope he's alright. Best wishes on a speedy recovery.

Yes, this is exactly it. Wish I saw this before I posted.

if he was concussed that early, how did he make that ridiculous block on Jacob young like 5 minutes later? maybe on the second or third time he got hit he started feeling it, but to say he wasn't himself after the first charge taken and to make that full court block doesn't add up. I'm thinking maybe all of the hits started to add up to him maybe being woozy sometime late in the first half.

Yep, Powell played the whole first half. Blame Willard and his medical staff for clearing Powell to continue to play. I think Powell was embarrassed by his play the whole first half and quit on his team. All I know is Rutgers owns NJ Hoops right now. Suck it Hall fans

Watch again, the charge he took on Mathis, he banged the back of his head very hard on the court.

You don't have to agree with me, but his continued tantruming after multiple warnings made it an easy choice.

In fact, he's continued to show his true colors on Twitter all morning...hard to blame that on booze, no?

He can reach out to me and we can have a serious discussion about things if he wants to come back.

He hit his head hard on the Mathis charge. Then, on the first possession after the Yeboah drive to the basket for a layup, he ran into his own teammate, and you could see him holding his head in both hands afterward. If you pay attention, on the ensuing possession he seemed pretty lost. Just looking at his eyes after he misses two foul shots, in retrospect, it looked as if he wasn’t all there. Pretty scary that he played so much in that condition.

No worries BK we can agree to disagree ... I just dont like censorship. the guy KYK was a knucklehead for his booze fueled rants. I hope Powell recovers after a week break to let his soft tissue heal.

that would be assuming that as soon as he got hurt he was totally out of it....could be that it took a while for dizziness, being out of it, etc, set in over time....probably running and jumping around after the fall was not helpful

he could have come in and out of it

Powell has had plenty of games where he did not score much in the first half, then got it going....the Hall was down 13, the game was not out of reach in the second half....If he was ok, he would have played....
