I believe it has been a month now. I am not a doctor. What was the diagnosis? I am guessing it didn't require surgery. Physical therapy? The lack of information and the fact we haven't seen him on the bench really concerns me.

EJ stated that he would be re-evaluated when he returned from the holidays. EJ let him go home for the holidays to rest and be with his family.

He will be back on campus in the next few days. Re eval will happen then.

His injury is an interesting one in that it could respond very well and very quickly to rest, or simply not at all.

That's a big swing. The season is over if he doesn't come back

Injuries to Rutgers football and basketball players always leave casual fans perplexed. Because of usual depth problems (where you can't simply say next man up), you wonder about injury diagnosis and treatment quality (team doctors and trainers), rehab, and overall strength and conditioning and nutrition at Rutgers compared to other league programs. Rutgers seems to have lots of injured athletes getting banged up (often in practice, not actual games) who never return to action. You have to wonder if allowing Freeman to return home is the best way to address his injury and getting him better. How do medical advisors/doctor, trainers, and rehab people expect to help Freeman when he is not around? Even something as simple as diet. He can't have access to the same nutrition and rehab facilities at home as he would in Piscataway.

According to carino Laurent did not practice and doesn't feel well after the heads banging Saturday....if he can't go Wednesday, not that we expect a close game, but wow, down right scary vs the Bigs of Maryland

1st time I can recall having a key player recuperate from an injury by spending an extended period of time away from the program sitting at home on the couch.

So sad that people are just posting things, searching for negatives and beating the drums of negativity.

Was only going by Eddie's response to a reporter's question about both Diallo's and Freeman's absences from the team where he said that he let Diallo and Freeman go home and away from the team rather than "staying here and doing nothing" which seemed to echo "it really doesn't matter" attitude by some on this board. If there's something more to it than that with Freeman personally, it's none of my business and I'm not interested in prying into anyone's personal life or stalking college kids on instagram or twitter. So apologies to anyone that feels I was out of bounds here.

And let me just clarify one thing here, my original flippant/frustrated comment was a dig at Eddie and certainly not on the player.

I listened to that press conference, what a joke. Loser mentality. How can he be so positive when talking about effort. It is insulting listening to him.

BTW Freeman was due to be reevaluated, but the is still at home Jordan said.

I think that was home as in, back at Rutgers.

Found this from an article 3 days ago. Brings up possibility of a Freeman redshirt.

Jordan said the Scarlet Knights’ three injured bigs: Deshawn Freeman (knee), Ibrahima Diallo (broken foot) and Shaq Doorson (broken foot) would undergo reevaluations within the next week. A final decision is looming on whether Freeman and Doorson will be redshirted (Diallo appears to be over the games-played threshold).

I continue to think that those guys not playing another minute this year is EJ's best argument to Hobbs for another year before getting the ax.

So is Freeman definitely under the # of games needed for a redshirt? Does this mean (assuming he doesn't play another game) he qualifies automatically, or does he still have to petition the NCAA and await clearance?

Someone on another thread did the math and confirmed that he would fall under the threshold of games played to qualify for a redshirt if he doesn't play again. I believe only those seeking a 6th year due to medical hardship have to petition the NCAA.

I'm sure EJ will bring him back for 4 meaningless games and blow the redshirt opportunity. He is that stupid!
Jordan would not make such a decision .Yes,the games would be meaningless but he does care about the players health.

Freeman redshirting isn't going to save Eddie Jordan if he doesn't win a couple or at least 3 or 4 conference games this year and they decide to start guarding people. Today is step one, beating Nebraska is certainly within reason, regardless of RU having bigs or not.

Hawk, you don't think Hobbs will get rid of Jordan if RU continues the way it is now?
Hope you're right but wonder if Hobbs will write off this season and give Jordan next year to produce a winner because he won't be given the funds to buy out Eddie and hire someone he feels can make RU MBB into a winner so soon after buying out Flood and Hermann while spending extra to bring in Ash.
I'm looking at the end of next season before Jordan is replaced , but that just my guess.

Who is paying for Eddies extension if we don't fire him?

Freeman was back on the bench in street clothes for the Nebraska game.

I'm sure Freeman will push for getting back too. I can't see how he'd want to play on this mess for two more years. Next year will be more of the same.

What do you mean IF it continues ?
Honestly, what is there that could make anyone think it's gonna get better anytime soon ?
Doorson ? Diallo ? Laurent ?
The recruits we have coming in next year ?

any injury updates?

I know reports said Laurent could be back. However based on what BEP observed my confidence isn't high. Freeman?

Besides trying to keep a little hope for some type of improvement before this season's over:
just trying not to be completely negative, but know that there isn't much ( if anything) looking positive right now .
