Lose. Moorhead stays. Jones stays. S&C stays. The rest jump off sinking ship.

Does he know x's and o's? Maybe. But a coach is more than that. This team has zero discipline and it shows across the board from not being prepared, talking back to coaches, and I watched players even in this last game against AC, getting up from receptions/runs and spinning the football (which should have drawn a penalty). And they do it with impunity. But it will bite us in the *** when it matters. He does not appear to have control of the program, and that concerns me way more than whether his scheme works.

I don't think the players respect him, but I'm sure they like him.

No matter what, you can bet on Rosebowl acting like he knew all along.

Even while defending his stance that there's nothing to the rumors. The guy's a joke if you ask me. The first to break news on Ole Miss but always the last to break anything on us. Remember Tutorgate? That story was first broken on this very board. Same with Paul Jones. I can handle them not having quality sources or whatever but don't come out after the dust settles and act like you've known this for weeks. That's their MO. I still vividly remember him saying the Mullen to TN rumors were false the day before the Egg Bowl. Then it was uncovered he had interviewed in the days prior and even missed one of the practices the week of the Egg Bowl. Long story short when it comes to coaching searches, whatever they are currently reporting, go ahead and expect the opposite.

The best case scenario is he wins the Egg and leaves for Rutgers on his own accord, saving us somewhere between $5 and $9 million on the buyout, and keeping our bowl streak intact.

I hope we win the Egg, but if our consolation prize is a new coach, well, great. But he’s gone. If I’m proven wrong, I’ll be here to admit it. I’m drinking a few beers and not worrying about it all.
If he stays (he won’t) we lose a couple more coaches, have another bad year, but keep our recruits.

Most of these guys that write the stories with inside info don't know any more about what's gonna happen than the typical moron on this page.

I think we may be overlooking a major issue.

If his family is not happy here, then he cannot be happy here. When you have $5 million in the bank, you can negotiate a decent buyout and hit the road and find a job in this sport where you AND your family can be happy.

I stated my opinion on it a month ago when they first started their search at Rutgers and I guess we will see soon enough

Nothing here, but his time at Fordham and Penn State would lead you to believe he’s not a total buffoon. Maybe he was aided by talent at Penn State, but they had talent before he got there and were still awful offensively.
At Fordham he had the only school in his conference with scholarship football players. At Penn State Barkley was just a sophomore Joe's first year. If you take just Barkleys increased carries & receptions over his freshman season you can cover the difference in offensive production. To me it looks like Joe was a good QB coach for McSorley, but likely benefited greatly by the athletes he inherited.

Stability is also valuable to the subscription reporters

They are rarely going to fan the flames of change. Access to coaching staffs is their livelihood. They neither want to piss off the current staff / admin nor want to go through the effort or winning the trust of a new staff or admin.

There's more to coaching than x's and o'x, but not all coaches do everything. Not even most head coaches. Moorhead can obviously add value in the right situation as an offensive coordinator and he can obviously be a good head coach in the right situation. Not sure if the right situation for head coach means at a lower level, or if it just means with complementary assistants that cover his weaknesses, or if it just means he just needs the type of players that Fordham attracts, or some combination of those.
