I go with cosmic crisp these days. Anything is better than that crappy loser red delicious apple.
Since I live in the self-acclaimed "Apple Capital of the World" I thought I better weigh in on the subject. The best apples are the ones right off the tree picked while bird hunting. I picked a dozen red apples (I have no idea what they were. My best guess is honey crisp) a few weeks ago and they were so good tasting. Cardinal rule in orchard country. If the orchard has not been picked it is considered taboo to pick fruit. Once the orchard has been picked, I've never had an orchard owner tell me not to pick the fruit and there is usually lots of it left. They only pick the best fruit. I like Sweet Tango, Sugar Bee, Envy, Fuji, Cosmic Crisp and Honey Crisp.

There was a small apple tree on our local golf course. I don't know what kind of apples it grew, but they were small, green, and very tart. Always looked forward to slamming a few on the tee box where they grew. Ahhh, the good 'ol days.

You can learn a lot about apples from @applegirlkait on insta. Her Dad's hatred of the honey crisp apple is pretty funny.

Interesting that there was booth in Nashville for Sugar Bee apples. Sugar Bee apples are a new apple that come from the Gebbers Farms in Brewster, WA. (60 miles north of me). I think it is a honeycrisp hybrid. The Gebbers are pretty much tiny Brewster. They are also into logging and cattle besides fruit. They are all pretty good athletes, baseball and basketball. For all you golfers out there Gebbers built a great golf course, Gambel Sands along the Columbia River that flows past Brewster. Wide open, natural contours with gigantic greens. Designed by the same guy who designed the Old MacDonald course at Bandon Dunes, Oregon. Chandler Smith, a former Husker women's basketball player during the 2014-15 season comes from a fruit and cattle family in Brewster.

I'll have to keep a lookout for a Sugar Bee!

They're not easy to find but SugarBee apples are the best apples that I've ever had.

And then I realized that the post right above mine is about SugarBees. 🤣

I sell around 50 thousand apple trees a year. 80% of the sales come from the old standby Jonathan, Gala Red Fuji, Mcintosh because of versatility. Yellow delicious actually still sells a lot mostly because it’s a good pollinator.
