In Matt Wyatt's game review of the ULL game, he said its the same as Malzahn's offense. Lots of motion and formations. Power spread

To me, fit is more important.

And he was an assistant at Alabama and Clemson & as much as I am loath for MSU to go what many people might think would be a lazy route and get another former Alabama guy— he’s not really an Alabama guy. At the same time, he’s got the southern football experience that would be more of a fit.

It is a run first spread but he actually adapts to fit his personnel. Novel concept, I know.

His 2017 Arizona State offense had 255 passing yards per game on an average of 32 passing attempts- 175 rushing yards per game on an average of 43 rushing attempts.

At ULL he has a really experienced OL and good running QB, as we saw, and they are a little more run heavy. That said, they do still average 222 passing yards on 29 attempts per game- so it’s not like the passing threat isn’t there.

He definitely wants to run the football and uses a lot of misdirection in the run game, but he throws it too.

Hand offs. WR routes drawn in dirt...or just told to get open. Great stuff that works like a charm in the pineapple conference
