If that is the same Northampton team I saw play Robbinsville in the title game, they better be a LOT better. I do not see how that '19 team made it anywhere near the title game. Had they been in the SMC they wouldnt have made the playoffs at ALL. But thats how things often go in the eastern part of the state it seems. Sometimes a Goliath makes it to the title game out of the east, but usually its Davids step son.Idk about this years north Hampton squad, but last years team was better than their 19 team that made the title game. Big and strong. Will be following this one closely

Just click on that team's schedule (Roanoke Rapids) and see how they wound up 3-8....I saw them in the 1st Rd when the team I follow/cover/do stats for (South Granville) BARELY squeaked by with a weird, wild, and crazy ending...in the weeks leading up to seeding Saturday, I did the number crunching and possible playoff projections, and regardless of record, I figured there were six teams that South Granville could have faced in the 1st Rd, and of those six, that RR was the last one that we wanted to see...RR had a senior-laden (20+ on roster), hard-nosed, tough, bunch of guys, many of whom have been starting since 10th grade; a few since 9th grade on both sides of the ball...So why are they 3-8? According to SimmonsRatings, they played the toughest schedule in the state among 2A schools, mainly because of the gauntlet of a 2A/3A conference they're in (Northern Nash, Southern Nash, Rocky Mount, Nash Central, Franklinton, Bunn, Louisburg), plus non-conference tilts against Northampton and Vance....go down their schedule, talk to people who saw those games, or films or highlights of those games, and they very easily could be 8-3 (and of course if they win just one of those four close regular season losses, they're seeded higher than 23, win two of the three conference losses by one score and they would have won the 2A division of their conference), everyone on their schedule who was eligible made the playoffs (10 out of 11)....6 of those 10 were still playing the 2nd Rd, 3 of those 10 are still playing in the 3rd Rd, and for Northampton, that loss to RR was before RR had that slew of injuries sustained during that losing streak against the 3A portion of their conference schedule...also curious about that forfeit loss to Rocky Mount Prep....I believe I saw that Northampton won the game on the field 72-0, but after the fact they had to forfeit....that usually means some administrative technicality like an ineligible player participated.....as an old Gates Co. HS alum who followed the Barons through the 1990s and early 2000s, I know there were some great Ram and Hurricane teams at Northampton-East and West many of those seasons....the Barons & Hurricanes took turns spoiling each other's homecomings four times in six years between 91-96, Rams were always earlier on the schedule; still usually a tough game to win; home or away....thinking back to the 90s, I can't believe putting those two schools together still makes only a 1A school (and I think they were almost always a small 1A during the subdivided years) but I suppose that's due to KIPP Pride pulling kids away, and of course the large number of small private schools with no football from all over the Roanoke valleyI don't know anything about the teams but just looking at their schedule etc in the match up I'm just curious what happened with Northhampton in their first game when they lost 48-16 to a team that ended up going 3-8?
Okay but could you give a little more detailed explanationJust click on that team's schedule (Roanoke Rapids) and see how they wound up 3-8....I saw them in the 1st Rd when the team I follow/cover/do stats for (South Granville) BARELY squeaked by with a weird, wild, and crazy ending...in the weeks leading up to seeding Saturday, I did the number crunching and possible playoff projections, and regardless of record, I figured there were six teams that South Granville could have faced in the 1st Rd, and of those six, that RR was the last one that we wanted to see...RR had a senior-laden (20+ on roster), hard-nosed, tough, bunch of guys, many of whom have been starting since 10th grade; a few since 9th grade on both sides of the ball...So why are they 3-8? Honestly, Washington County (Formally known Plymouth Vikings) beat North Hampton 35-22 in 2019, but North Hampton was hot in the playoffs. Teams just have to come out hot every game though. Coach Privott has done a great job with those guys.If that is the same Northampton team I saw play Robbinsville in the title game, they better be a LOT better. If they would have to stop NH run game, which they seem to struggle with against Washington County.WC has been getting a lot of penaltys in last 2 games. Can't have that Friday. They have improved a lot. All three loses were on road this year. Whiteville--N. Moore--Trask. All 3 with winning records . I think WC wins a close game
Those at North Hampton play well in the cool breeze coming from up north...It may be a good one.. WC is hot right now...Teams from WC have problems playing in Cold weather. 30 degrees tonight going to be tough if not used to playing in that environment.
The Northampton team I saw had absolutely no kicking game of any sort. It appeared they hadnt even practiced kicking the ball before. I cant envision a modern era football team that should be able to advance that far without at least SOME kind of kicking game. At times I felt embarrassed for a team with so much more athletic ability than Robbinsville, yet so utterly unprepared for that game.Honestly, Washington County (Formally known Plymouth Vikings) beat North Hampton 35-22 in 2019, but North Hampton was hot in the playoffs.
