I was told by someone who runs another website that they won't be any good cause the QB they had last year was gone.
With a new coach taking over that does change things too. Holman is a good coach, but may have some growing pains.
Just looking at East Burke from 2015 they only lost a few key players and figured they might be ok the next year. Not so. West losing a key weapon CAN make a difference but maybe not that huge of one. I'd just hope they can stand up to harder 3A horses and hold their own. Will win some games but wont be like last year.
Good to hear from my buddy again mr Pats. I'd love to see an old fashion close by matchup with West and Freedom. 2 schools that share a border that hadn't played in a really long time.
5 wins lol. I guess hibriten will win that horrible horrible conference their in and once again get trashed at Jeff story memorial stadium lol. And yea a school came calling with a offer he couldn't turn down so yea best of luck to him as he turns around another program.
Good call lol. Surely somebody will have something to come at em with. I'm sure gate sales will be down for the teams when Hibriten rolls in, and of course home conf games for Hibriten
Its not that hibriten is that good it's the rest are that bad. Everybody at hibriten thinks just cause their 2a now that it's going to be a cake walk but they will see come playoffs
Oh of course man. Tough teams in 2A/2AA as well. Shelby, Lincolnton, some of those down East, some of these teams woulda give fits or beat down Hibritens playoff opponents of last year. Won't get easier. Maybe a tiny bit. I give em' 2nd round this year at my best preseason educated guess.
Do they have a lot of difference makers/play makers coming back? Losing a O and D linemen or 2 usually don't make a significant difference but sometimes a QB and wideout can. I can't see EVERY team in conf (cept, Hibriten) being that terrible based off of last year. I kinda know what to expect from Burke county schools lol but everyone else might be a mystery. Foard last year showed some progress and hope and may be better this year. Bunker Hill could surprise people if only they can get some track kids out and sometimes if the new coach or whoever is liked, respected, and brings a good vibe and energy to the school those kids might just come out.

Patton and West Iredell should be the 2 best teams besides Hibriten. Everyone else is pretty bad. Hibriten has a lot of returning talent. They are a top 10 2A team problem is so is Shelby, South Point, and North Davidson. Time will tell but it should be another good year.
West should have a good year but Alexander Central, Freedom and maybe Watauga will be hard to beat.

Congrats on backing into a Conference Title, not b/c you actually beat someone but b/c another team lost. Once again, the Warturd on here can't find anything to defend his talk, so he just has to try and bring down the dominant team in the 4 county area.
Hibriten has a great program. They have an established coach, they run their system year in and year out so the kids are familiar with it so they can play fast. They will be a tough out come playoffs no doubt. West Caldwell will be fine this year. Very solid line play which makes a difference. They have great skill guys as well. There will not be much drop off from West this year. Freedom, Watauga and Alexander central will be keys games for them. Coach Holman was an excellent hire. Great leader for West. Kids at West will play hard for him and will be well coached. West and hibriten game should be very very exciting. 2 very good teams locking up early.
Tough conference for the Warriors. Key to their season is QB play. West has all the necessary components coming back to be good. They should be tough on both lines. Isiah Helms slides from guard over to the Center spot and Id love to see him get more snaps on the defensive side of the ball. Jeremy Boyce should be strong at RB and ought to take over the workload left by Tucker's graduation. Kaleb Dula will be a steadying force in QB and may just surprise a lot of people. Looking for a huge year from Elijah Brooks and Taye Dula who were both hindered by injuries most of the year last year. Will Gause will be the leader of the defense and could emerge into a recruitable athlete. Also the addition of a mystery athlete in for his final High School season - a member of the Hendrix family so he has great bloodlines.
Love what I hear about the coaching staff. Coach Holman appears to be a great fit with our athletes and he commands their respect. OL coach Briggman was a great addition last year (former head coach) and the addition of Whittenburg this season brings in another knowledgeable coach. The rest of the staff from the previous regime is still in place and that consistency should be helpful.
Freedom is a great challenge but I dont expect them to be better than the teams we have had to play the last couple of years (Maiden, East Lincoln and Lincolnton).
Alexander Central will be good - we open with them and if we can get that one we could possibly get on a roll.
Watauga - should also be good. We could beat all three or we could lose to each of these. Should be some very entertaining football!

There will be no doubt that West sales gate and Freedoms sales will increase in the area simply because draughn and EB and whoever Hibriten plays will be way too predictable and uninteresting. For example, 2 guys talkin- hey joe you going to Hibriten game..." no, they're playing East Burke, waste of money, I'm just gonna work on this car so I won't have to do it tomm"
LOL, I mean it's true. Die hard fans and parents of the kids will be the only show ups for Hibritens conf games unless they play Patton and the playoffs team(s)
I was thinking to myself about West Caldwells conference and the head coaches in it. Look at the list of successful coaches. Look at the resumes. What other conferences around the state compare? Just curious.
It's a closer call, more competitive, more interesting to watch conference in this area. All the schools except McDowell will be reasonably close together in travel. Hibritens conf is the same way....as far as distance, not competition
