Flo Ranking for 12.21
125: Spratley #8
133: Ramirez #19
141: Vega #2
149: Swiderski #13
157: Robideau #5
165: Lockett: #2
174: Facundo: #7
184: Ryder #10
197: Merrill #8
285: Doucet #9
Vega #15 and Lockett #18 on their P4P
No significant changes aside from Landon dropping to 5.
It will be interesting to see how Vega does with Echememdia as his strength will be the closest approximation Sergio sees to Mendez before NCAA’s.
I don’t see Robideau losing again until NCAA’s. Zerban’s style could be interesting but I personally think he’s handled easily. I think the Taylor loss actually gives me more confidence w Landon when he faces Watters. Shapiro will be a factor but I think there’s a good chance we see a two freshman final if the seeds allow. I’d still pick Duke in that one right now but I see it as a one take down match.
Lockett seems way too content to spend all his effort on one or two meaningful attempts per match. Him being sick before Nebraska doesn’t explain his other matches when he did similar things. I think he has Caliendo’s number but could see Blaze being an interesting matchup. Irrespective of wanting him to open up more, he’s proven he’s at the top of this weight. As much as he wants Mesenbrink, I think a win here would be keeping the match to a decision.
Overall feeling good about finals potential at 125, 141, 157 and 165. It would be interesting where Jax would slot in the rankings if he started up. I’d guess ~6.
Everyone else is fringe AA/Bloodround unless some offense is found in the next 3 months. Cody has potential to exceed expectations but much like Ryder, I fear what an early takedown does to a match. Those two desperately don’t want to come from a hole. I fear Doucet, in a high pressure match, will revert back to his non-offensive tendencies.. hope I’m wrong!
A lot to be excited about though. The scuffle will be a blast if we send a large contingent!
