It was close, but we weren't winning down the stretch. For a change we got a break when Gettys couldn't grab a put back and the ball goes to Sanders. He is the one guy that can make a shot in close when stationary and he did. Can we make shots down the stretch if we have a lead ?

I'll have to be honest I am a little discouraged. the team is built for next year and I am having difficulty seeing us being much better. The freshmen class has been very disappointing. I don't fault Pikiell.

Shooting 42% from the charity stripe is obscene. Whatever they're doing in practice, the coaching staff needs to have them double the efforts and that includes putting them in game-like situations where they're running they're asses off and then have to shoot a pair. And if the person shooting FT's misses either he has to run or the whole team has to run. This poor FT has to stop. And I know they can do it, because in the beginning of our OOC schedule we had some games where we shot 70%+ from the charity stripe.
If we had hit 70% of our FT's last night, we would have been in that game to the end. There is no reason our team can't shoot 17 of 24 from the FT line. That's not only 70% but that's 7 more points, which changes the entire complexion of that game. Maryland wasn't killing it either but they shot 68% from the FT line or 13-19. There is no reason why Corey, Nigel, Freeman and Gettys aren't more consistent by now.
