Yeah we need him playing at halftime this fall.Good to see Bobby Rush is recovering from Covid. Gotta get some a dem down home blues
Alabama's gonna call Alexander ShunnarahJohn Morgan or Richard Schwartz?
Lots of State’s Attorney Generals are doing this. They know China ain’t gonna pay, but it might make a couple of Chinese supporters in Congress Keep a lower profile so they don’t say something stupid to get themselves included in the suit.****
China doesn’t hafta pay, the courts will just seize their US assets, which a report showed yesterday that they are currently trying to buy as much US, Italy, and Spain property and companies as they can for pennies on the dollar. If nothing else it might slow that down if there is a legitimate risk of them losing what they buy.
My sense is that these suits will be used by the administration to achieve gains in trade. Whatever China "pays" for the damage the mutha17n communist pieces of **** running that place caused to the US will be through trade gains, not litigation. Once the administration wrings out all of the trade gains from the litigation threat, the suits will be thwarted by federal interference.
☝This is the goal.
And it isn’t 2 states, it is up to 5 and will be more..
And oops. Yes. It is Attorneys General. My mistake.
And I had no idea we had so many Chi-Com sympathizers on sixpack.
What taxpayer $?
She's an idiot
I think that's probably true, but not because of this. China is going to be handled through political/diplomatic processes but lawsuits against foreign countries is a thing. Not sure there is an applicable exception to the Foreign Sovereign Immunity Act, but it's probably irrelevant. If there is an exception, China is going to be liable for trillions of dollars and they aren't paying trillions of dollars nor are the states going to be allowed to just seize chinese assets in the US. There will be a diplomatic resolution that probably involves Congressional action.
If there is not an applicable exception, these cases will just linger around and there will still be a diplomatic resolution and still probably Congressional action, unless the "resolution" is just a more explicit cold war type relationship with China going forward. I suspect China needs our market enough and there are enough US politicians and media indebted to them that we will reach some sort of formal resolution of the issue though.
