Buzz, is the closest to Ash, with the energy , drive, youth, and passion, demanding accountability, to change the losing culture at Rutgers. Plus he is one hell of a head coach. He was at Marquette, the Big East was breaking up, and he would have loved to coach in the Big 10. Another lost opportunity!! Jay Wright, Jon Beilein, Gregg Marshall , all guys available and Rutgers always being too cheap or not having an AD that could have closed the deal!!! He would have been a game changer, a culture changer , and a great recruiter.

He wouldn't have come. He took the VT gig, in part, due to a commitment to facilities upgrades. I believe they have already broken ground.

Also, every year his "people" try to get him an offer from whatever good job is open.

Last year it was Florida. This year Oklahoma State.

He went Big East to ACC. He would have wanted Big East to Big 10 and demanded facilities and shovels in the ground, to stop Rutgers from ignoring their basketball team for so long. He would have killed it in recruiting NJ, Ny, and Philly to get tough kids to compete in the Big 10. He would have been treated like Schiano and if the AD had any sense , he would have given him anything he wanted.

It's amazing how we should have hired this guy or that guy . But every one of our last 5 hires from bannon to Jordan has been the wrong hire . We couldn't even get 1 out 5 by dumb luck !

That's easy. Blame the ADs that burned RU hoops to the ground. I remember when we were a basketball school.

While we are at it, Bill Self, John Calipari and Roy Williams would have been good hires too.

Are you serious? Look at what Roy Williams has done at UNC. Nothing. Rutgers has to do better than that.

If we hired Roy Williams people here would complain about the academic stuff . That's how misguided part of this fanbase is . They will say I want to win the right way lol

silly response

it has been the coach...EVERY time...what have our last several coaches done since leaving here?

come on...facilities are an issue, but man, we've just made several consecutive bad hires. let's all accept that.

It is the coach. Most of the time Rutgers was cheap and hired a coach . You get what you pay for . Not once did Rutgers hire a guy that had any smidgen of success in a power league .

I'm sorry but some folks just have no idea how far we are behind the competition.

As far as facilities VT was way ahead of us since at least 2009 with their $21 million dollar
Hahn Hurst Basketball Practice Center

Yes their Cassell Coliseum is a little old, but I've been there for games and it is pretty nice venue. Much updated since I went last, including new scoreboard in 2013. They say $10 million in renovation in the last decade. Including taking out seats for updates and upgrades it still seats 9900.
