We moved up to 8th D1 Baseball Poll

Not a lot of movement in any of the polls. We really hurt ourselves with the Mizzou debacle.

True, but other than winning an SEC title (which would have been a big deal), it really won't hurt much. This team bounced back and secured a top 8 national seed, and at that point it's just luck of the draw as to which top 8 seed is better than others. My biggest concern is lack of starting pitching past the top 2 starters.

Yes, but we’re far from the only team with that issue. Arkansas’s rotation after Wicklander has been suspect all year, and they just lost their Saturday starter to injury. Vandy has kinda been a disaster on Sunday’s. Ole Miss has Nikhazy and nobody else they can depend on.

Certainly we need to try to find a third guy, but most everyone else is in that spot too.

They've got us misranked. Never should have dropped us all the way to 10th, even with the series loss to Mizzou.

Think of it this way. If we had taken 2 of 3 from A&M and 2 of 3 from Mizzou, we'd have had the same record and been the same team and there is no way we would have been dropped to 10th. It was an overreaction.

The D1 poll is way more concerned with "what have you done lately" than other polls are. They are more likely to move a team up or down in the polls according to what happened the past week, than to take into account the whole body of work. As much as I enjoy the analysis of the guys over at D1baseball, their polls can be a bit over-reactive.

We should be ranked number 5-6 in the final polls at the moment. I think most people have forgotten that Texas Tech and Texas were both swept in week one. I will always remember that because I slept in the truck on I-20 on the way to those games.

I think Fristoe is going to come around. His pitches Sunday were very close to the strike zone. I think watching Harding helped him realize that there is a defensive team behind you so don't be so cautious that you put runners on base.

Where they seed teams? That makes the most sense to me. D1 which they use on the NCAA site seems to be the most harsh towards us.
