Defensive intensity is miles above what McCaffery put on the floor and that has translated into more wins this season IMO but curious……ideas regarding who steps into Stirtz’ role -the “go to” player- next season?

Probably someone from the portal. Maybe check out the guys at Northeast Missouri State and other D-II powerhouses, and don't forget Drake.

Ben will get his guys, and he's showing again this season it's more about attitude and effort and coaching than it is about raw talent. I believe that if Bennett Stirtz had gone to any other D-II program in the country, nobody would have ever heard of him. But he and Ben have formed a whole far greater than its parts. That's what Ben has always done. That's what he'll keep doing at Iowa. Any player who wants to play hard and maximize his potential within an ultimate team concept should have Ben's program at the top of his list. The others? Good luck to them.

I wasn't expecting this level of cautiousness regarding putting in more players I.E. Hausen / Jirak. No issue with it though - from what I can tell, this is baked into his "win at all costs" mentality.

I also heard him say in one of the team/locker room videos - either after or before game - "win or go home". I think I heard that right or it was something similar. Prepping the team's mental state for upcoming tournaments? If so I like it.

That is THE question of the offseason. Stirtz is not someone who you can just replace. I posted on another thread that we need a point guard and probably 2 to cover our asses. I have confidence Ben will do what really good coaches do, change some of his philosophies and strategies to make us competitive next year.

This is also being discussed in another thread. Portal will no doubt play a big role in filling the gaps after this season. My hope is that the season ends well and we'll have players buy in to what BM is building and want to play here.

Yes and we have the 2 covered. Sage will play mega minutes at the 2. Combs should see time there especially if we bring in immediate PG help. Harris looks like a wing guy the type Ben likes who can play where needed. Ben has his bases covered and will recruit to cover the gap at point.
