who else did good from the 2nd to 4th string?
I thought a lot of the backups did very well. I wish they would get more playing time this year, especially when our starters were making constant stupid mistakee to start the season.

Wasn't impressed with the second team o-line. Seemed to my untrained eye they were getting beat.

Maybe Vedral was rusty or had a tough time playing with several backups that saw the field for the first time. It may sound crazy but I would give the edge to Bunch to be the next man up if Martinez got hurt. Hopefully, that doesn't happen because it is a big drop off after Martinez in my opinion. Going forward the next 2 QB recruits could probably jump in and be 2nd string. I think today we seen that we are not Alabama with the depth of 3rd stringers that could start on a lot of power 5 teams. Having said that Wyatt was the most impressive on offense for a 3rd string. Maybe, see if he can be a wide receiver because outside of Spielman and Morgan no one is stepping up. Hopefully, Miles Jones can step up. It was his first game and look a little rusty dropping a catch. He does seem to get open and create space with his speed. Austin Allen looks like a capable TE if his number is called upon more. On defense, JoJo Domann forced a fumble and hearing that is his specialty in practice. Also, D. Williams stepped up getting a fumble recovery and INT. Need some more of that to help the defense out.

Yeah, we now know there is big time difference between talent of our 1st and 2nd string. So for all those saying at the beginning of the year, why are the backups not playing? Now we know why. The offense managed just 1 td the whole second half.

We already had a 2nd string QB. Bunch > Vedral. Vedral got the playing time because of the mess his transfer has been. When asked about Vedral's performance Frost dodged the question. His passing was not great today by any stretch of the imagination.

Not sure what you mean by finding a 2nd string QB. Vedral doesn’t seem to have the tools for this level. His passing and decision making was really bad. If he is our 2, we are in trouble.

Sone of the scrubs had a decent game, but you can see why they are still scrubs. They need more time to learn the system and develop game speed.

Next week is going to be tough. I think the offense is getting better and playing more mistake free. The defense is juat struggling on some downs. Those pass plays right up the middle like Minnesota were running are going to be TDs versus OSU.

Collin Miller, Deontai Williams, Jojo Domann, and Wyatt Mazour all played well and need to get more playing time. Some of these guys should be starting honestly.

Bryan Reimers is good enough to get playing time, Jerimiah Stovall has made some nice plays on special teams. Jarzynka had a very nice play and got a sack. Miles Jones is very speedy and talented.

Great eye, I expect 3 of your top 4 to be playing the next couple weeks a LOT of snaps. The fact jojo forced a strip, and Williams and Miller are already in the rotation means they will just get more time. To your point of starting...I would ignore the depth chart placement of players... the only positions that are really "starters" are the interior NT, and 2 corners...so 3 guys are the base defense...the other 8 positions are constantly rotated based on sets and down and distance. They ran some 7 defensive back sets today, probably in preparation for next week, and OSU throwing the ball 50 times. And even our rush ends are replaced on third and long with a pressure set. Williams and Miller already play a lot on passing downs.

And remember our first string defense was in for the first 2 drives of the second half and did not play well at all. I would have rather seen the second team in the entire second half.

I think all of those guys are much more athletic and have higher upside than the starters at their positions. I'd rather just see us roll with them, let them get their mistakes out of the way and get better as starters.

Ohio State is clearly more talented than Nebraska. But they are not without problems and they don’t have a seasoned QB to take charge. I imagine they win and by a margin, but I don’t think you’ll see the laydowns we’ve seen the last two years.

Ohio State struggled with Indiana and Minnesota before losing to Purdue. I don’t think they can snap their fingers and fix this funk.

Much of the 2nd team looked clunky. Not sure that should be a huge surprise. JoJo, d Williams, and C Miller look good and have the athleticism that we are missing in our first stringers
For as clunky as our backups looked, they really didn't play much worse than the first string has for much of the year. And when our starters need a breather or are playing bad, I'd trust some of these backups to come in and play well. Even a guy like Jarzynka who I hadn't even heard of before today. He showed enough today that I'd trust him to come in for a series in a tight game. Or a guy like Stovall who is playing well on special teams and was pushing for a spot last year. I think guys like that deserve some playing time and a chance to prove themselves in meaningful snaps.

Miles Jones is reportedly having shoulder surgery next week which may explain the dropped pass. I think this injury goes back to the start of Fall
Camp which explains why he’s been held back or not progressing as quickly. I agree with pretty much everything else you said.

is bunch the one who was playing while martinez was hurt? I though vedral was supposed to be a better prospect? I don't think a guy starting for the first time is gonna pass real well. unless it's like adrian martinez...he did have a nice touchdown run.

Our first team kicked their *** in the first half. It was fairly even in the second half, so I don’t know what you are talking about

And if we played BCU earlier in the season I don't know if it would have been such an easy game. Our starters at the beginning of the season weren't playing much better than our backups did today. And our first team defense played half the third quarter and didn't play well at all. It wasn't just the backups that weren't playing well in the second half.

Urban is pissed and Ohio State has 2 weeks to prepare. Our defense is going to get torched.
**** Urban he is a cheater and I think we will do just fine, we may not win but I don't think we will get blown out of the ballpark.

I get that you don’t like the starters, especially on defense. You’ve been clear on that all season. But come on, they showed up today and did their job.

Give some credit. Please.
