A DC that confounded KJ Costello with a defensive scheme he'd never seen before. The 3-8 is no longer kryptonite. That's why A&M and UK started bringing extra guys into the box and blitzing more. Saban come up with a wrinkle in his defense just for our trip WRs that confused the hell out of A&M. Odom ain't shutting us down this time.

Agree. We could be 7-1 but we could also be much worse than where we are.

We beat UK, NCSU, and Vandy easily. Bama beat us easily. We won two games by a combined 5 points. we lost two games by a combined 5 points. We are about where we should be.

Frankly, this season has played out almost exactly how I expected it to in August. Win a surprise game, lose a game we have no business losing, improve from last year while still being inconsistent, but get better as the season goes along.

We beat LA Tech and A&M by a total of 5 points. And probably should have lost to LA Tech. We lost to Memphis and LSU by a total of 5 points, and probably should have beat Memphis. 5-3 is what we deserve right now. The "what if" game is for losers. Nobody ever wants to play that game both ways, but it usually works out that your record is what you deserve.

He’s pretty good at downplaying, even shitting on, exceptional performances, and giving credit to undervalued play. My sense is that he can fairly well control the typical flashing light bulb type guy (e.g, Kylin Hill).

It’s true, just look at the last 4 games against normal competition (minus the Bama game) and this is a top 20 team. With a win Saturday, the ‘true underdog’ status, a benefit of such will most likely begin to rapidly fade. This will compel others to view the Team as a quality opponent instead of an easy win.
IMO, 2 wins over the next 4 weeks, it’s a successful season. 3-4 wins and it’s a great season, as everyone knows the Memphis game was a fluke!
LSU was lucky they got state when they did.
