We beat a ranked team in CU

Rankings at the beginning of the season are meaningless. FSU was a top-10 team at the start of the year. They are dogshit. Can we stop with the endless poo pooing over the "last time NU beat a ranked team"?

Yes, NU needs to get its offense rolling but the BS dating back to the Pelini/Riley/Frost days needs to stop.

Colorado might be playing like a top 25 team now, but they weren’t earlier this year. Can’t say the same for the Huskers.

Not sure about that, the big 12 is a joke of a conference. The line play across the board is weak in the Big 12, which allows Colorado to thrive. Nebraska has regressed every game up until the tOSU game, that being said, Nebraska is still far better than Colorado:)

The Big 12 is an easier conference. NU is playing better teams in the Big 10, especially defensively. Should NU be doing better offensively? Heck yes. If NU played in! He Big 12 6 wins would be simple matter every year.

The fact of the matter is that Deion has his team playing well and believing in themselves. They are also one of the most dangerous passing teams in NCAAF. Travis Hunter is a once-a-decade athlete at a non-QB position, and Shedeur is a legit 1st round NFL QB.

The fact we won and the way we did it was a quality win. Their only other loss was to a K State team that was lucky to win.

Truth is Colorado might be pretty much the same team they were a year ago and got pummeled in what was a very deep and talented Pac 12. Outside of 3 teams in the big 12 yes it is a joke of a conference. In fact the 2 winningest programs in the Big 12 are Colorado followed by West Virginia. It also seems to me that only one team has won a national championship which was Colorado.

If Nebraska played CU’s schedule we would be 7-1 or 8-0. Maybe we lose to KSU at home like CU did.

If Colorado had our schedule they have at least three loses, they would get blown out by OSU and Indiana and lose to Illinois.

It’s cute they are ranked and I’m sure all their new fans are pumped, but I’m not sure they have actually improved at all.

Conference change and weak schedule came at a perfect time for them. Still think this is Primes last season in Boulder when Hunter and SS leave.

It's ok to hate CU and Prime and still acknowledge that they are a better team than they were earlier in the year. ...they are.

Being ranked, bowl eligible, Heisman candidate, first round draft picks…sounds pretty nice. Maybe we should go back to the Big 12

The poo pooing isn’t going to stop, but you’re right- NU deserves credit, at least at this point, for beating a ranked CU team. Another thing to consider is had NU beat Illinois, that would have been considered a win against a ranked team - but Illinois wouldn’t be ranked this week had that happened.

Let's not discredit our win against CU as its the only team we've beat that, with hindsight, looks impressive. Our other 4 wins are against teams with a combined record of 8-23, with the best of those (Rutgers) riding a 4 game losing streak.

There a joke that if Nebraska would go to the Big 12, the strength of both the Big 12 and the B1G would improve. Unfortunately more truth in it than I’d like to admit.

sadly, there's only one scheduled postseason game that pits the B1G vs the Big 12:

the Guaranteed Rate Bowl (now just the Rate Bowl) at Chase Field in Phoenix

a rematch would be a fun wrinkle to end the season, but we'd probably need to get to 8 wins to earn an invite

It seems that other than BYU and KSU , defense is an afterthought.

But how do we illustrate how bad Deion sucks while still giving us credit for such a quality win?

And how do you continue to suck off the coach from CU day after day, while continuing to bash the team that destroyed them? Tough one.

No thanks, a rematch wouldn't be fun at all. I'm probably making this up but the winner of game 1 almost always loses game 2. What year was it we rematched with Washington in the bowl game and got slaughtered?

2010.

And you know he has a raging hard-on thinking about Nebraska potentially losing a rematch to CU. That would be like his dream come true.

You’re right

A matchup with Boston College or some other random team in the Whatever Bowl would be much more fun

It's a tough conference. Same with the SEC. Rutgers is struggling only because they are slightly above-average in a conference that doesn't allow teams to just be above-average. Going undefeated is a huge accomplishment, and when all is said and done don't be surprised if Oregon has 1 or more losses. Indiana is a good team but they will have to play OSU and Oregon in a B10CG, if they get there. Miami would not be undefeated in our conference. And no Big 12 team would be either. Iowa was leading ISU until the final seconds. ISU would not be undefeated in our conference.

Sounds a lot like what I heard about Indiana a few weeks ago. I think there's a lot to be said for building momentum and winning begets winning, no matter who it's against. I wish Nebraska was fools gold. Ever.

How about that "Top 10 win" for Georgia Tech? Sure, FSU is 1-7 now, but it's still a Top 10 win, right?

You are correct. It could work both ways. That is why we only count it if they are ranked at the time we play them. Not several games before nor several games after.

"We" really should only consider them ranked teams if they are ranked at the end of the year. Almost every year, someone in the top 10 pre-season ends up with a losing record.

I don’t disagree but statistically, at the national level and for the record books it is at the time.

We’ve had a good season outside of the Indiana game. The progress we’re seeing is exactly what I was hoping for. Again… minus the Indiana game. We all know that we just beat Ohio state. The refs took that one from us. And we lost to Illinois in overtime. I’m happy with the year over year progress so far. Gotta keep improving though

The Pac 12 was awesome last year. If only they would have had a season like that a few years earlier, they would still have a real conference. There's too much "soft" in the Big 12, CU is gonna have a competitive advantage over most teams in that conference if Deon stays & can attract more mercenaries every year.
