Wait...so now you're worried about Russia?
I think it’s more about making sure you have a strong military and can flex when needed. Russia puts their physical specimens in the military while the US is now trying to recruit trannys who don’t know how to even shoot a gun and feminists who only care about how they can wear their hair.

A few years ago my nephew, a member of the WVNG, told me that the Nat Gusrd had recently sent some new recruits to basic training and when they returned tsome were sent to counseling because they had PTSD....sign of the times ???

Point taken but to put your minds at ease a little. We have warriors like that. This has been going on since WW2. We win battles and far left politicians and their friends lose the wars. This does need addressed immediately. Get as many people as you can to contact said politicians and demand change.

When my son graduated basic in 2016 we went down to his graduation. Boy what a difference from when I went through basic in 1981. First his two TIs were MSGt (E-7) I had a SrA (E-4) and a SSGt (E-5) back in the day you only got to see a MSGt when you were in serious trouble. Then we toured his dorm, the dorm looked like ****, mold in the bathroom ect. My TIs would have went ape **** if our dorm would have looked like that, no one would have slept until it was clean. A lot of other little stuff but I came out of there shaking my head.

We need a nice home to come back to after being in the NCO club all night, plus we don't have time to clean-you know what they say time is money.

You guys also get the nicest golf courses. They make ours look like back country driving ranges.

True story, back in the early days of the desert. We were still living in tent cities, but when the marines and army got to come out of their fox holes for a few days we always seemed to adopt a bunch. Keep in mind I was in combat comm at the time so we knew how to deploy (unlike most of the rest of the Air Force) but when you guys would come to our tent city the first thing that amazed them was we had a/c in our tents, then they couldn't believe the individual hot showers. Then we would take them to our fully stocked Hooch and have a few drinks-they were more amazed with the ice machines we had brought with us. Then their mind would explode when we asked them if they wanted to go in the hot tub we built.

We didn't control the food that was regular AF but we had tons of car packages so they had plenty of snacks for their day or two stay. Finally when they were getting ready to go back to their fox holes we would take them down to supply tent and load them up with things their service didn't have like sun glasses, goggle, gloves ect. Good times

Al Asad and TQ had a great chow halls. Steak, lobster, and real plates. KBR and like companies did a decent job at other bases and FOB's. But we would go out of way to stop over there.

Did you ever get to ride the bus down to the Navy USO in Bahrain. After the Army took over everything and banned drinking we would catch the bus down there to drink. It was one hopping place to say the least, also had good food. I like Bahrain sort of like an oasis in the desert so to speak.

My friend ,Col Gallagher, was an ACC officer. Said he had to laser a building that the Iraqi's had an anti aircraft gun set up on the bottom floor of a building. They started realizing he was lasering them, everybody started firing at him. Got a little hairy until the bomb detonated there on the bottom floor, dropping the entire building on the AA. He was a really good golfer and we'd get him to tell his stories after the tournament round. His psych guy told him it was good to talk about it.

Taji had a great chow hall. Love it there. Kabul sucks. I usually go to the Turkish chow hall when I’m there. KAF was ghetto, but the boardwalk was cool. Balad and Bagram had ok chow halls. Well, the Thunderdome in Balad was the good good.

In 03, we were on MREs for 3.5 months as we moved through Iraq fvcking **** up. The best meal we had in that 3.5 month stretch was when we bought a goat from the locals and bbq’d that fvcker. It was something special to get back to Ali Al Salem and there was a chow hall, ice cream, etc. The last chow hall meal I had prior to the invasion was the day the shuttle came apart over Texas.

Everytime someone complained I politely reminded them they didn't have KBR and Halliburton at the frozen chosin.

Tora Bora ?
Typing faster than my mind thinks. I said "Bora Bora?" No that's not right. Yes, night goggles came off, pitch black. Thought he was on ground, turned out to be a boulder. Stepped back and fell on his back. He's had multiple surgeries. Can't play golf anymore. Lives in Williamsburg and was in the TV show Turn as an extra. Got to be in one scene where they sang cause he was the only one who knew the words to georgie Porgie or something like that. He also volunteers at the historic sights around Jamestown etc.
