Does CVS have a practice facility or play home games some place other than the RAC? I don't get it.

No but UCONN does. Tonight you unfortunately might see the cummulative effect of the recruiting advantages one hall of fame coach had on another due in part to facilities.

They haven't even opened up their practice facility yet, so that wasn't the reason. Maybe its because girls that choose UCONN are pretty much guaranteed a national championship by attending.

Transitive theory analysis.

Quick look on common opponents.

UConn 92 Temple 58
UConn 83 Temple 49

Rutgers 88 Temple 55

The only close game UConn played all season was an 88-86 OT victory over Stanford. The remainder of UConn's victories are 14 points or more, some by 60 points.'

Putting this all together . . . . .

This is a brutal match up, UConn are monsters and they are at home, they may repeat their NC this year.

It would be a massive upset if Rutgers pulls this one off. UConn needs an off night and Rutgers must be perfect.

I guess that you don't understand that CViv is the 3rd winningest WBB Coach in History, & that players attend RU to play for CViv, not to play for RU. Imagine if CVS was able to recruit her name & decent facilities the quality of players she would get. UConn's average margin of victory this season is 42 points, so tonite may be a long night, especially with Davis out, Holivay playing with a torn medial collateral ligament, & Copper falling out after the game on Saturday.

I'd like to see a comparison of the professional player output of the programs.

Stanford was a loss for Conn. A home game for UConn, it would be great effort to keep it within 20 points.

That's it. Set the bar as low as possible and then praise the HC and AD for losing by less than 30. RU fans will be lining up to buy WBB tix for next year after a 25 point loss tonite. Got it.

"massive upset if RU were to win", "We'll be lucky to keep it within 20 pts", etc,etc

Someone up above said CVS is the #3 all-time wins, a Hall of Famer and girls come to play for her and not RU. If that's the case, why the huge talent delta ? It doesn't jive.

The Women need the same kind of game that the Men played against Wisconsin.....and everybody knows it.

Minimal stupid fouls
Great shooting...make their FTs (ugh)
Get back on D...give weak side help.
Nobody gets hurt.
Bench points.
....UConn has to (frankly) be a little bit off

i know i'll get killed for this but..

womens basketball is NOT a competitive sport. Theres like 4 good teams every year and then everyone else. Very rarely do these teams differ from one season to another

And that shows how little you know about Women's basketball. In past years that may have been the case but no longer. Whilte UConn stands head and shoulders above everyone else currently, the top 25-30 teams are very competitive.

People say CVS is a Hall of Famer. She is. That's a fact. BUT, can someone name me any other HoF coach who has only won a major conference title one time?

If you had Rutgers and 35, you lose. CVS should do the right thing. Return half her salary and retire.

Hey Troll learn what you are talking about CViv has won the B1G conference 6 times at Iowa & 3 times at RU in the Big East. It is amazing how posters make up facts to suit their agenda, but it is very easy to prove them wrong.

Don't think he was trolling...

When most people think of "winning a conference title"..they think of the conference tournys, not the regular season. Fact is she's only one a conference tournament once. Although while at Iowa, the Big Ten didn't have a tournament, so I'll give her those 6.

Great shooting...make their FTs (ugh)..................................................2's not fallin
Get back on D...give weak side help......................................................Wide Open 3s.

Bench points........................................................................................air balls - where was that last pass?
....UConn has to (frankly) be a little bit off...................................UConn was playing within themselves.

Facilities aside....CVS didn't have them ready. And too often this year that was a fail. I paint her with the same brush. She needed a big game motiviatinally
. The team didn't respond. Some gutty play but on a 2 or 3 on one Schaife and Copper needed to give it up to each other and not force the ball.

There was a time when she actually could recruit. Then she outdoes herself and gets the best class in RUWBB history and what does she do with all that talent? her best days are behind her and you all can celebrate her legacy and HOF status- she deserves it and nobody's trying to diminish it- but RU ain''t winning anything anymore commensurate with her compensation. Retire with dignity and pass the torch .

No one expected this one to be close.

First off, UConn has been straight up abusing people this year. Average margin of victory is 42 points.

Second, we were playing hurt with Rachel Hollivay limited and Syessence Davis (B1G Defensive POY) out of the lineup. Canty going down didn't help either, but by that point the game was out of reach.

Third, this was a home game for UConn on their floor. UConn has lost just two home games in the last 9 years.

....

Now, beyond that, we just didn't play well tonight. Shots weren't falling, poor decision making, bad turnovers, you name it. A "good" game would have been a 15-20 point loss, but this wasn't a good game.

...

As far as the facilities question, it's really just the clearest indication of how little support basketball has had at Rutgers for decades. Right now, Stringer is recruiting purely on her own personal appeal as a coach - that's it. If she were to retire tomorrow, Rutgers has absolutely nothing to offer a top flight women's bball recruit. She needs to bridge us to a point where we have facilities/program support that gives the next coach something to show off on recruiting visits - or we're going to fall off the map pretty quickly once she retires.

That said, her personal appeal as a coach is really suited best to defensive-minded players. Elite scorers have to look at Stringer's style of play (heavy on defense, light on offense, not a lot of outside shooting) and wonder if it's the best fit for them... and a walk around UConn's gym vs. Rutgers' gym doesn't put us in any better light (or choose another top school - Maryland, Duke, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Stanford, etc).

lol...she didn't have them ready...lol um that's not the reason they lost, in fact she did have them ready, they were not scared to play

Not trolling. I give CVS credit when credit is due and do not hold tonights outcome over her. Mikemarc1 made the correct inference. I still like CVS and recognize what she has done to raise the profile of WBB. What I don't like is when CVS supporters get angry when "trolls" (lol) come out and say she is severely overpaid. She is. But I don't blame her. For that, I blame the administration.

Going to try real hard not to sound like a jerk but this is a legitimate question... What is keeping that uconn coach there? Tremendously tremendously successful, has he entertained offers? Does he just like winning? Does uconn drive dump trucks of money to his house?
Same question people ask about Bob Hurley at St Anthony (I get why Hurley does it though).

For Women's College Basketball?

Definitely.

In 2013, UCONN gave Geno a new 5 year $11 Million contract that paid him $1.95 Million for 2013-2014...with the salary rising to $2.4 Million during the final year of his deal.

He has been at UCONN for 30 years....why leave and start all over?

exactly, why would you leave a dynasty you have built and get paid a lot of money? Did John Wooden leave UCLA?

UConn has lost more than 5 games only once going back to 1993, and in that season they lost 8 games. In that stretch, they have 9 seasons with 0 or 1 loss. They have won 79 out of their last 80 games. Geno is 61 years old and under contract until 2018. Why would he leave?

Out of curiosity, why do you feel she is tremendously overpaid, especially after she has restructured her contract significantly downward?

I can't find a current list of the highest paid women's bball coaches, but she's surely now out of the Top 10 and probably out of the Top 15-20.
