It's overstated. Rain is a bigger problem than cold when playing sports, unless it's the kind of bitter cold you only see rarely even in January, which is not an issue for college football. Schools in the south play in rain and wind.

Not sure it’s comparable to cold and damp and blustery and snowy days at Nebraska, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State in front of huge crowds that are hard to silence.

When you are the King of the Hill in college football like the SEC, they can pretty much dictate who and when they play. There might be two or three teams in the Big Ten that might get a home-and-home with SEC teams.

BTW, the Michigan State Spartans are the only Big Ten team with a non-losing record to USC. Rutgers and Maryland have never played USC.
if Notre Dame was in the Big Ten, we can add them to the list that includes Michigan State.

Upstart “No Labels” party is toying with the idea of a Joe Manchin with Larry Hogan ticket. Their timing (I think they will be talked out of it) couldn’t be any better and couldn’t be any worse at the same time.

I was just trying and failing to be ironic and funny It does relate to my political views. And I like Chris Christie.

The SEC doesn’t need to play in the cold…so your “afraid” point is moot…football talent is simply better in this part of the country and thus the continued dominance of southern tier schools…that’s not changing any time soon…ice hockey? Lacrosse? Wrestling? The north has that in the bag…

Once players get going cold temps aren't that big of a deal.
I played in -2F weather and I was still sweating and steaming
The worst weather is 33F and raining - right at freezing line but staying liquid.
Man that hurts - stand still for 5 minutes and your a shivering statue in soaked pads.
If the wind is blowing its praying territory.
I almost quit in weather like that
40-50 degree water for 30 minutes is considered hypothermia risk area

I also think cold weather teams heading south for bowls can have issues.
85-90F in humidity will hit harder in late fall.
Personally I don't know how people can practice/play for a FL team in later summer and early autumn.
I went to FL a half dozen times in school days and loved it.
Then I went once in summer and have never been back

University of Arkansas/Pine Bluff is a HBCU in Pine Bluff Arkansas. This is a fairly sizable payout to UAPB and a “rent a win” situation. Many schools in the SEC, and other conferences, schedule these games to pad their resumes and help fund athletic departments in lesser known colleges.
But you already know that.

“Playing in the cold?” We might be a little slow in our talking and walking in the South, but we aren’t dumb. Momma didn’t raise no fool, we know not to play outside when it is freezing.
