Duke has offered Wisconsin Sussex 2021 Pat Baldwin, presently at 6’8” and projected to be one of the top three players of the 2021 class. This means that the youngster is a rising Sophomore and besides DeMarcus Nelson, perhaps Nate James and two players Duke missed on I can’t remember an offer this early. Can anyone think of an offer in the K era to a rising Sophomore?
It has been reported that Duke is most likely going to offer Walker Kessler, a 6’11” Big 5/4 from the Atlanta metro area who is class of 2020. Kessler has offers from Virginia, Georgia, GeorgiaTech and others and is apparently a very high level academics kid who claims to have been a bit of a Duke fan who can play inside as a five but also step out into a stretch four role.
Will be interesting to see if we ever hear what K is telling these potential recruits about his plans i.e. retirement, although most anticipate the one and done rule to be gone by 2021 or 2022. Certainly, if he continues to progress and avoids the injury issues that befell Harry Giles, Jarred Vanderbilt, and others, Baldwin would certainly be a Top 18 type draft pick if not higher.
